Who doesn't like spending time sitting by the pond? The feeling of spending time sitting by the pond in the late afternoon is different. Some time ago, I went to see a large pond in Bogra. I have heard many names for this pond from people. I thought that maybe the pond would be big in size, nothing more. This pond is located 5 and a half kilometers from Gabtoli. The Santahar - Lalmonirhat railway line passes by this pond.
This pond was dug a long time ago. Even the people here could not tell the exact year. Everyone knows this pond as 26 Bigha Pond. This pond has been dug on 26 bigha land. That is why it has been named 26 Bigha Pond. When I came here, it was afternoon. The sun had set towards the west. There was a light breeze. All in all, it was a wonderful atmosphere. I first sat on the railway line next to the pond bank and watched the pond for a while. Today the sky was a bit cloudy.
However, today's weather was very good. It was very hot for the last few days. I saw rows of lemon trees planted on one side of the pond. The banks of the pond were very wide. As I went a little further, I saw numerous flower trees planted. And many flowers bloomed there. There were many fruit trees planted on the banks of the pond. There were mango, litchi, papaya, etc. trees.
There was a house there to look after the pond. The banks of the pond were very wide. When fish is caught in this pond, many people from the surrounding area come here to buy fish. Fish from large ponds are already very tasty. During the rainy season, when the surrounding area is filled with water, the water in this pond increases a lot. However, this pond never sinks.
There was no permanent pier in this pond. Since the rainy season had not yet fully arrived, the water in the pond was very low. Moreover, there was very little rainfall here this year. I went down from the bank to go to the pond water. Below I saw a floating ghat made of empty plastic drums. And wood was laid on top. It was made like this because as the water rises, this ghat will also float up. It can also be called a ghat and a boat. I sat on it for a while. Then I got back on the bank and walked for a while. I saw a boat but there was no berth there. So I couldn't get on the boat. Then I looked around the pond very well.
