"One Picture And One Story Week #63"
"Life is like a mist that appears today and disappears in a few hours or tomorrow. A few hours after my birth, I began looking for the queen so I could express my love for her, so we could mate, even when I knew I was going to die immediately after mating the queen. I fly for days looking for you my queen, so I can have a taste of your virginity and start a new colony. I am afraid, but this is just my purpose in life, I can't run away. Now that I have found you, my queen, and mate with you, my wings fall off, my breath shortens, oh I am falling off you, goodbye my queen".
Explanation:
Life is purposeful but full of obstacles or threats that could make us shy away from its purpose. The above poetic write-up explains the image of this write-up; it's about drone ants or male ants that come to life and die a few days later; this happens immediately after they mate with the queen. Even knowing that he will die when mating with a virgin queen, a male ant flies for days searching for the queen to fulfill his purpose in life, then dies immediately after.
Lessons:
(1) Accepting Realities: The male ants accept reality even when it's tough. Life may be unfair to us at times, and we question the almighty, others, and ourselves. We may even ask why me? But that is how just life is, we have to accept it. When we accept realities, we become more practical and develop the courage to face the uncertainties in life. Therefore lesson number one we learned from the picture is we should be realistic.
(2) Finding Purpose In Life: The male ants found a purpose in their life; it's just to mate with the virgin queen and start new colonies, just that. Since they have found their purpose in life, it makes it easier for them to pursue their purpose and accept reality. Likewise, we should find our purpose in life and then pursue it. I know of a generous friend, and he gives and helps so many people, but sadly, most people he helps always hurt him and betray him. But when he tries to stop helping, he feels empty in life, and because of that, he said; " Maybe, my purpose in life is just to help people". Since then he never stopped helping the needy. You see, finding our purpose in life would help us accept realities even when they hurt. Therefore lesson number two we learn from the picture is we should find the purpose of our lives.
