I've already teaching in a Public School in our place for 13 years already. When I took my course, my goal is to be in my Alma Matter and wanted to teach the young minds. I just wanted a simple job not a complicated one like the schoolheads. And it never go to my mind that I will become a speaker to my colleagues wherein some of them where my teachers and advisers way back in my secondary years.

Stepping away from my comfort zone and standing in front of my colleagues and my fellow educators as their training speaker made me feel exciting yet a nerve-wracking one. I used to hold chalk in solving Math Problems, and clicker for my instructional materials, I suddenly found myself holding a microphone with a loud speaker beside me, sharing my ideas on a certain topic to my co-educators who dedicate their life to education. I already became a speaker few years ago but only in a small group. I just discussed simple topic to my co-Math teachers. And during our In-Service Training 2025, it was my very first time talking to 100+ teachers because I belong to a big school. And the mic of anticipation and self-doubt was undeniable.

As the session has finally started, my heart really pumped so fast but as time passed upon seeing the participants actively engaging my topic, it slowly faded away. Seeing teachers enjoying my topic and participating reminded me that we really shared the same goal which is to learn something important, grow professionally and serve the young minds and helped them get a better future. The discussions. and shared experiences made the training into a meaningful exchange rather than a one-way talk.

This experience taught me that teaching goes beyond the four walls of our classroom. It has something to do with collaboration. We had to help hand in hand, new teachers and old ones for us to learn one another, inspire colleagues especially the new ones and being open to growth. From chalk to microphone, this journey is worth remembering. Yes, I felt so nervous yet I was able to successfully made my talk.

Thanks for reading!
