Art contest: Artmosphere - week2 : Sunset Scene
Hello my dear Steemians,
I would like to invite you to the contest that is running by @rashid001 and if you would like to have a look, here is the link:
It is Saturday and I am back from my night shift and glad to have some time to grab my sketchbook for the contest that I wanted to take part.
The topic is sunset and that is something that many artists try to do because of magic of colours:
the sky over horizon has multiple layers of colours and that one is slowly running into other makes it really very special.
the best sunset is over water surface, the reason is that then you have the mirror reflection of that beauty one more time
What material is best for sunset? In my opinion, it is either Pastel or Watercolour. I decided to try watercolour for that, because this is my favourite material and also I decided to combine it with a boat and little seascape, I hope you like it.
The secret of any successful work is to think about the topic what and how you want to present. My main job was to create beautiful evening sun. So I decided to start with horizon line and create level over water first, usually the sky close to horizon is yellow and orange, it is then goes slightly into red, then violet and then blue. I thought sky without cloud will be too boring, so created a big cloud.
Here I wanted to show you that I used soft pastel, it is pure pigment that is why very vibrant, it is easy to spread using fingers, to blend the colours. Also, now you see I created more or less mirrored reflection of sky.
Here I wanted to show you that in order to create some live for my sunset I was thinking about boat and on left hand of my sketchbook I made few different type of boats, from front, or side, with and without sails. I decided to do without sails because the boat is in the middle of my drawing in front of sun
Then I drawn small part of land on right with some ruins and boats and on left just a little hill.
I would like to invite following users for contest @barski, @enamul17, @shiftitamanna
I agree with you ma'am. By thinking about how to present something, we can increase our chances of success and work becomes more productive and enjoyable.
I admire your talent and perseverance. The Sunset scene drawn with Pastel is perfect. Thank you very much for inviting me. I am always motivated to work after seeing you. Below is one of my artworks:
Awesome, that view is very much light full.
That is wonderfully done, I like that combination of colours and reflection. It is always an explore when one is doing painting, we learn a lot from our own experience :)
This piece is a perfect example of how simplicity can be beautiful!
You've demonstrated that focusing on the essential elements can lead to a stunning painting in no time.
The most impactful aspect is the reflection of the scene, which you have shown very beautifully. The combination of soft pastels and watercolors has produced a very interesting result.
Thank you for joining the contest, and I wish you a wonderful weekend.
Yes, that is true I often like to use minimalistic way of drawing or painting, that is another great quality to make a work and leave much space but still that does not look empty. Soft pastel is great in doing sky, clouds and landscape, I actually need to buy pastel paper it takes powder of pastel better. It was a pleasure to create something for contest :)
Wow this is really a very beautiful artwork worth admiring of I must confess. I thought it was a real picture at first. It looks so real and clean..you must have really invested so much time in this
Thank you, I am glad you like my seascape scenery :)
This is extremely pretty. Plus I must agree with you that a sunset over water surface intensifies it's beauty, in fact anything around water will look captivating.
Thank you, yes, sea motif are fascinating and I tried to reflect that in my work :)
well you succeed!
Thank you @cymolan for supporting my post :)
Thank you @stef1 for inviting me to the contest, I'll think about it, although I haven't held a pencil in my hand for several months :)
Your work is great, I always wanted to try working with pastels, but somehow it didn't work out.
Hi @barski, then you can try this one, you can just use a pen, it makes fun:

I can see we are now going to have a great grand competition here. The best evergreen arts I have seen on sunset and this is one of them.
The scene is just like a book cover, or just like a movie scene. This is awesome and more than that.
Thank you for nice comment and I am glad that you like my work :)
I loved it.
Beautiful, how talented you are ! I love your painting ♥️
