Laxmi Stores, Meerut

We generally buy from local stores in Modipuram but when it comes to quality we go to Laxmi Stores which is a big grocery store in our city. Laxmi Stores, Meerut City, where this longstanding grocery and spices shop has served the community for nearly a century.
The best part is that this store not only sells branded but self prepared spices in its multiple stores in adjoining areas and serving hundreds of customers with perfect reliability and quality every day.
It stocks everyday essentials like fresh spices, pulses, and other essentials catering to traditional Indian kitchens. For instance think turmeric, and other spices perfect for home-cooked vegetables ideal for families. As a reputed, well-maintained spot in main city, it's trusted for unadulterated products at fair prices, from spices to staples.
Laxmi Stores mainly focuses on food services, making it a go-to for groceries for authentic daily life and heritage shopping.

Now I will answer your questions:
✓ On a scale of 1 to 5, how would you rate the variety of spices and condiments this store offers? Detail your answer.
Laxmi Stores in, Meerut, offers a solid variety of spices and condiments typical for a longstanding local grocery shop. I rate it 4.5 out of 5 for its reliable selection of everyday Indian essentials.
I feel my rating is based on its stocks and a wide range of fresh spices like turmeric powder, coriander, cumin seeds, black pepper, Garam masala, fennel seeds , cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, and fenugreek seeds.

It also carries blended options such as biryani spice, chaat spice, and basics like red chilli, alongside condiments including asafoetida which is one essential item in Indian curries and of course dry ginger, garlic, etc.
While comprehensive for daily North Indian cooking aligning with local favorites like garam masala for dishes it may lack extensive gourmet or organic imports compared to larger chains. With a 4.5+ rating from me, it's trusted but not a specialty spice haven.
As a century old spot, it balances affordability, freshness, and variety for traditional kitchens, ideal for our gastronomy and for wellness blends, nearby branches of this store supplement it well. The only problem I see is that it's too crowded especially on weekends. But maybe it's because this store is too popular.
✓ What is the spice or condiment that is never missing in your pantry?
Turmeric stands out as the spice never missing from an Indian kitchen. Known as haldi, this golden powder adds vibrant color, earthy warmth, and subtle bitterness to curries, lentils, rice, and veggies the backbone of daily Indian cooking.
Beyond flavor, turmeric offers anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting benefits, making it a household remedy for colds via turmeric milk. In every regional cuisine especially from North Indian curries to South Indian delicacies it's added first for its medicinal and aromatic role. No pantry feels complete without it, embodying tradition and health in every pinch.
✓ What do you consider to be the spice or condiment that defines the gastronomy of your country or city?
We call it "Garam masala" but if you translate it, it will be "hot spices" or "hot mixture" where garam means "hot/warming" and Masala means "spice blend", that defines Indian gastronomy, especially in North Indian scene. This aromatic blend of cumin, coriander, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, black pepper, and bay leaves infuses warmth and complexity into everyday dishes our favorite with spicy curries of our choice.

In India, where spicy food thrive Garam masala elevates biryanis, vegetables, and street foods, creating that signature robust, layered flavor. It's sold whole or ground at local retailers essential for home cooks balancing spice with tang from chutneys. Unlike single spices, its harmonious mix captures India's diverse palate, from a hearty meals to festive feasts which is versatile, and irreplaceable.

Thanks, @mamun123456, I appreciate your support!
I love ginger and I always ensure I don't lack ginger in my kitchen. The spices in your place look attractive and I'm sure they have sweet aroma/scent.
India is the home of spices that's why Portuguese came to India and started trading since Vasco da Gama era.
