Did you miss my local Nigerian stew? If yes, then you need to get it here Do not miss out on my episodes because I come with different kinds of meals that will entice you and keep your kitchen alive with the aromatic flavor.

And Today, I have something sumptuous for you. Do you know what it is? Hmm, are you eager to know? I tell you, this meal will leave you screaming for more. I present to you The Nigerian Porridge yam.

Do you know what a yam is? Yam is a root tuber that grows underground. It can be mashed, boiled, baked or grated. Yam is an energy giving food which provides about 200 calories of energy per day.

In Nigeria, yam is a popular food and is see as one heavy meal that sustains every man. Oh! my dad love to eat yam everyday, it doesn't matter how you prepare it. I love yam a lot and I can eat it in any style. Today I made the porridge.

Ingredients for the Nigerian porridge yam

• Yam
• Red oil
• Onions
• Crayfish
• Pepper
• Salt
• Spice
• Smoked fish (optional)
• Kpomo (optional)
• Vegetables

Cooking Methods

Peel, Slice and wash the quantity of yam you wish to cook. Put in a clean pot and wait for the next step.

Put all ingredients into the yam pot before adding water. Add water, set on fire and cover to boil till yam is soft.

I use this pattern because I love tasty meals. If I must get the real taste, then it has to be this way and not adding the ingredients when my yam is done.

While waiting for the yam to get softened, wash your veggies and slice.

Add the sliced veggies and turn together. Add salt to taste and adjust your taste.

In my country, Venezuela, yams are abundant and I have never eaten them in stews, only in soup.
Prepared like this it is a complete meal, you don't need anything else. What leaves or veggies do you use?

Wow! I bet you need to try this. It's sweet and delicious. Any veggies can go. Over here we have; pumpkin leaf, scent leaf, green leaf so I prepared this one with pumpkin leaf.
