The Ambition to Create an Online Catalogue of my Art
At the time I created a separate account for my art work, my ambition was to use Steemit as "an additional social media outlet" to distribute my work as far and wide as possible.
I was actually feeling rather positive about it, as a result of having sold a few items to other community members via the long defunct @steembay marketing system.
Selection of hand painted mandala stones, prior to getting their finish coat.
Sadly, SteemBay never really took off; nor did the idea of using Steemit as an actual ecommerce venue... in a sense a rejection of the "currency" part of the whole cryptocurrency idea.
Subsequently, I considered the idea of simply using Steemit to create an "online catalogue" of sorts... thanks to the permanency of the blockchain, I could keep a record of work "in perpetuity," as it were.
One thing led to another, and then Covid happened and my marketing efforts more of let stalled, with that.
Still, the idea of creating some sort of "record," and always pointing people to where each item could potentially be purchased has still be rumbling around the back of my mind.
The only problem that that approach is that things do sell, eventually... and I'd end up with "pointers" to pages that no longer exist.
So I'm still noodling this possibility around; contemplating it both as an exercise in record keeping, as well as a photographic catalogue... with potential sales benefits attached.
Who knows? Maybe I would even be able to collect a few upvotes along the way...
Just thinking out loud, for now.
(Planning to power up any rewards earned — so I guess this is a #club100 post!)
Best of luck. I started with the platform recently as an extra place to showcase my work and maybe even nab a sales or two eventually. Never thought about using it as a catalogue. Will follow your journey.
