𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙣𝙖𝙞𝙡 𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚 One of the best methods of cooking is steaming. Especially in this method, no oil is required while cooking. As a result, the quality and natural nutritional value of the food is maintained. So in today's episode, I will share with you the method of making a very popular and traditional healthy dish "Traditional Steam Cooking- Ragi Puttu (Steamed Finger Millet Cake)".
List the steamed dishes made in your region. Which one is your favorite and why? (2 Marks)
Below is a traditional list of different types of steamed or steamed dishes in our region of Bangladesh.👇
Bhapa Pitha: This Bhapa Pitha is one of the most popular winter dishes, made mainly from rice flour, fresh date molasses, and grated coconut.
Bibikhana Pitha: This is a traditional steamed cake or pitha made with rice flour, sugarcane jaggery, coconut and condensed milk.
Mera Pitha (or Dulli Pitha): This pitha is made from a mixture of rice flour and salt, shaped into small round balls or patties, and then steamed. This round, steamed pitha is a popular dessert or is eaten with meat broth.
Chitai Pitha: Although this pitha is fried in an open pan or pan, its main process is done by steaming it with a lid. However, hot and steamy Chitai Pitha tastes great with stuffing or meat.
Patisapta (steamed version): In different regions of our Bangladesh, these Patisapta pithas are not fried in oil but are simply steamed, and this pitha is very soft and fluffy.
Momo: This is a modern popular dish made of thin dough wrapped in steamed dumplings filled with vegetables or meat. It is one of the most popular dishes today.
One of my favorite steamed dishes is Bhapa Pitha, the reason for this is:
My favorite among steamed pies is Bhapa Pitha. And the main reason why it is the most favorite is that it is a completely oil-free and healthy pitha. It is basically steamed on an earthen stove, and it has an original taste that is not found in any other pitha. It is available in all regions of our country, especially in the mornings and nights of winter. And the combination of date molasses and sweet coconut melted inside this hot Bhapa Pitha seems like nectar to me. This Bhapa Pitha is nutritious as well as easy to digest, making it an ideal food for people of all ages.

✔ I first put a pan on the stove, took ragi flour in the pan and roasted it on low heat for 2-3 minutes. Roasting the ragi flour will remove its rawness and give it a nice aroma. Once the ragi flour is roasted, I take it out in a bowl and leave it to cool.

✔ When the fried dough cooled, I added a little salt. Then I sprinkled water little by little and mixed it gently with the palm of my hand. While mixing the flour with water, be careful not to overmix it, the mixture will be crumbly but if you hold it in your hand, it will form a lump.

|---|
✔ At this stage, I put enough water in a pot and let it boil on the stove. One thing is, since I didn't have a steamer at home, I chose the pot.

✔ I took a white cotton cloth and spread it evenly over the perforated lid. Then I spread the ragi flour mixture well between the cotton cloth on the lid. Now I cooked the mixture in boiling water for 15 minutes with the lid closed.

|---|
✔ After steaming the ragi flour mixture for 15 minutes, I removed it to a plate and set it aside to cool.

✔ I use a blender to grind 5 pieces of cardamom into powder.

✔ I broke a whole coconut into two pieces. Then I used a coconut harvester to remove the coconuts.

✔ At this stage, I added cardamom powder, grated coconut, and sugar to the steamed mixture and mixed the mixture well.

✔ I now pressed this mixture into a plastic bowl, set it, and inverted the bowl onto a plate. Now our healthy Ragi Puttu cake was ready.

This homemade finger millet or (ragi atta) cake is not only beautiful to look at, but also very beneficial for health. I have decorated this ragi puttu cake in two layers and coated it with white coconut in the middle and on top. Which has given it a wonderful snowy look. The cashew nuts arranged on top of the ragi puttu cake and the white coating of coconut around the plate and the almond garnishing on top have further enhanced the beauty. I think this ragi puttu cake, which is different from our home arrangements, will bring elegance to the breakfast table. However, I am making this ragi puttu cake for the first time and I have prepared it very perfectly and presented it to you.
I hope you liked my recipe for making Ragi Puttu Cake. I am really happy to participate in this challenge.
