SLC30-W4 | 24 Hours Travel Reporter : City Landmark Zone.
I am happy to participate in the 4th week of SLC . This week I am going to share one the historical place of our country.
What kind of City Landmark Zone have you visited? Briefly introduce it.
The city landmark zone I visited was Panam City. It is one of the historical and tourist attractions of Bangladesh. This city is located in the Sonargaon area of Narayanganj district and was once an important commercial center of Bengal. Panam City has many buildings that are about 400 years old. Here you can see rows of old brick buildings, ornate doors and windows, and a mix of European and Mughal architecture. This city was originally known as a residence and trading center for Hindu traders.
How were the services and history both inside and outside?
There are several services for tourists inside and outside Panam City that I enjoyed a lot. Among the inside services, I love the **specific walking paths for tourists. There are 400-year-old buildingsn both sides of the narrow road. Some of the buildings are largely destroyed, while the beautiful craftsmanship of some buildings is clearly visible. When you walk through the European-style buildings made of red bricks, the two-story buildings do not seem so old. You feel a kind of peace in your mind.
Since these are very old buildings and are in an abandoned state, there are security measures and guides to preserve them. There is security so that tourists do not face any problems while visiting here and that nothing here is missed or destroyed. For security reasons, video recording is not allowed here, but there are no restrictions on photography here.

After buying a ticket and entering the place, there are information boards where the history of the building is written. Because tourists can easily learn about the history of these by looking at these boards. And if any question comes to mind, they will immediately get an idea about them. Although the place is not very big, there are incredibly beautiful structures here that will make you curious to know about them.
There are also resting places and beautiful places to take pictures. Here I was able to see a beautifully built pond, even if it is being destroyed, you can still sit here and take a rest for a while. Many tourists like me were sitting on the grass and taking rest and there is also a good arrangement for photography in the beautiful buildings here. Each building is an aesthetic photo background.

Among the external or outside services are ticket counters, local food shops, souvenir or handicraft shops, parking facilities.
History: It was once a trading and residential center for the wealthy merchants of Bengal. It became very important after the Mughal conquest of Sonargaon in 1611.Panam City is mainly made up of a combination of Mughal and British era architecture. Many rich merchants and landlords lived here. Their houses have European designs, designed balconies and long corridors. These historical buildings still carry the memories of the life of that time.
What is the demand for tourists inside and outside the place?

Panam City is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bangladesh, so many tourists come here every day. Not only domestic tourists come here, but tourists from different parts of the world come here all year round. The number of tourists is very high during holidays and winter seasons. One of the inside demands for which tourists come to visit the place is the extreme interest in seeing historical structures. Photography and video recording of all those historical monuments. Also, a group of tourists come who are interested in learning about architecture.
The outside demands of tourists include the desire to buy local food and traditional products. The desire to have a family picnic or travel. Students from many institutions travel here for educational tours.

I visited Panam City on a one-day trip. After reaching Sonargaon, I first got a ticket and entered inside. Then I slowly explored the old buildings. I visited this place with my family. There are rows of old buildings on both sides of the narrow streets of Panam City. Old crafts, carved windows and iron balconies can still be seen on the walls of many houses. These directly testify to the history of that time.

In the afternoon, when the sunlight falls on the old brick buildings, the place looks even more beautiful. Tourists take pictures and enjoy the historical atmosphere.Entry is prohibited after 5 pm and you have to leave this place by 5 pm.
In the evening, I ate local food from the nearby shops and there is a souvenir and handicraft shop next door where I saw various things made of clay and wood. The whole travel experience was very pleasant and educational.
