Share your experience about how effective the psychological counseling sessions were for you in the past weeks

The counselling sessions have been very helpful for me in the past few weeks, especially in understanding my thoughts and emotions.

Firstly, the regular sessions have given me a great place to express my feelings and thoughts openly. Sometimes I don’t usually express my inner worries or stress to anyone, but when I talk to the counsellor, I feel like I have been able to talk freely, and it has actually eased my stress a bit.

Secondly, I have been able to identify my negative thinking patterns. Before, I would exaggerate any small failures and blame myself.

However, practicing the techniques taught in the sessions and minimizing the problem has helped me to see the situation realistically.

Doing this has changed everything, but many things still feel difficult. But the difference is, now I understand how to handle those difficult times strategically. I don’t feel as helpless as I used to.

Discuss in detail what problems and good aspects you have understood, and what strategies you are adopting to solve the problems.

I have a clear understanding of some important problems and positive aspects within myself, which I have mentioned below.

The problems that I have understood.

Excessive worry

  • I have noticed that I tend to overthink even small things. I also worry unnecessarily about the future, and sometimes I think, "Everything will be bad."

Lack of self-confidence

  • In some cases, I doubt my own self-confidence. Fear acts before starting a new task.

Weakness in controlling emotions

  • I express my emotions immediately when I am angry, frustrated or in pain.

The good aspects that I have understood.

Willingness to learn and self-awareness

  • I understand my mistakes and want to solve them; this is a great strength.

Sense of responsibility

  • I try to do the work that I do well. I do not neglect my responsibilities.

Patience and tolerance

  • I can survive myself properly even through difficult times; this is what I have realized anew.

The strategies I am adopting to solve problems.

  • When I have a negative thought, I ask myself, “What is the alternative explanation for this?”

This makes it easier to check reality.

  • Breathing and relaxation exercises. I practice deep breathing for 5-10 minutes every day. Doing this reduces stress.

  • When I am angry or upset, I take a 10-second break instead of reacting immediately, which makes it easier for me to make decisions. If necessary, I temporarily walk away from the situation.

There will be a short story; read the story and express your own thoughts.

This short story seems like a warning sign for mental health to me.

  • In my opinion, Mehvin is not weak, but rather he has been struggling with unspoken emotional pain for a long time. His repeated experiences of failure have destroyed his confidence; he feels “he is unlucky” and “nothing will be possible for him.” Such thoughts are a sign of depression or despair.

  • One of Mehvin’s biggest problems is blaming himself. Blaming himself for every negative event in his life has made him more insecure. As a result, he has low confidence before he even completes any task, because the fear of failure is already at work within him. This is not weakness, but a deep crisis of self-confidence.

  • The line from his diary, “Don’t call me again; nothing is possible for me,” seemed to me like a silent cry for help. Many times, people cannot express their feelings or ask for help directly, but they are expressed through behavior and words, and this is what is revealed in this diary.

  • On the other hand, there is a very common tendency in our society. We often avoid mental problems by saying, "It will get better in time," as her father thought. But mental suffering is as real as our physical illness, so ignoring it can lead to terrible conditions, as we have seen in Golgotha.

  • Mehevin, unable to do anything, cut her hair. This is an outward manifestation of mental breakdown. In fact, these actions indicate the depth of inner pain.

  • Take your time

First, stop yourself for a moment and sit in a quiet place to calm your mind.

  • Identify the incident

You need to determine what issue or event is causing you to self-examine.

  • Identify your feelings

What was I feeling at that moment? Anger, hurt, shame, fear or frustration?

  • Type of thought

What kind of thoughts came to mind at the time of the incident? Were they emotional or realistic?

  • Evaluate your role

Honestly acknowledge where you went wrong in the situation and where you were right.

I would like to invite my friends @shahid76 @nurnobi10 and @mahadisalim to take part in the contest.

Best Regards, @sojib1996
