Running any traditional company or organization usually requires a CEO, a board of directors, and a specific top-down governance structure, where all important decisions are imposed from above. A completely opposite and modern concept to this traditional and centralized system is called DAO or Decentralized Autonomous Organization. In Bengali, it means decentralized autonomous organization. Simply put, it is a type of digital organization or community built on blockchain technology, which does not have a single owner, CEO, or any corporate office; rather, it is completely open-source code and is run based on the collective opinions of its ordinary members. The main backbone of a DAO is the blockchain's Smart Contract. All the rules, regulations, scope of work, and terms of financial transactions of this organization are written in advance through coding in smart contracts. Once this code is deployed on the blockchain, no single person or outsider can change it. As a result, the organization runs according to its own rules in a completely automatic or autonomous way. A DAO does not have any paper accounts or secret bank balances; all its financial funds or treasury are open to everyone on the blockchain, ensuring 100% transparency. The decision-making process in this organization is very democratic. The DAO has its own native cryptocurrency or governance token. Any ordinary person can become a partner or member of the organization by purchasing these tokens. When a new project, fund allocation, or rule change is needed in the organization, any member can submit a proposal. All token holders then vote for or against that proposal in proportion to the tokens they hold. The decision that wins based on the majority vote, the smart contract automatically implements that decision through the code. There is no administrative red tape, no room for corruption or violence. The greatest positive aspect of a DAO is its unwavering independence and global participation. Anyone from anywhere in the world can contribute to a DAO based on merit, even if their identity is kept secret, and be rewarded. However, this technology also has some major challenges. Since the code is the final word here, hackers can steal the entire organization's funds if there is an invisible mistake or flaw in the coding of smart contracts, as happened in the famous hacking incident of 'The DAO' in 2016. Moreover, it is quite difficult to make quick decisions in an emergency situation, because even every small matter requires a vote of the entire community. In short, a DAO is an unprecedented governance system of the Web 3.0 era, with shared ownership and no intermediaries. It has proven that it is possible to successfully manage large international projects, businesses, or charities worth billions of dollars, relying solely on mathematical code and the collective faith of people spread across the globe, without any traditional legal paperwork or strict management oversight. Today's discussion concludes here. I hope you've found it interesting. Please share your thoughts on today's topic. Prayers for everyone. May everyone be well. Amen.
