Users must open an account by completing a know your customer (kyc) process. Users deposit their fiat currency or cryptocurrency into an account with the exchange. During this time, the exchange takes custody of the private keys to the user's funds. cex uses an electronic order book system, where buyers (bid) and sellers (ask) list their desired price and quantity. The exchange’s central software automatically matches the buyers’ and sellers’ orders at the best price and completes the transaction.

When a user wants to exchange tokens, the smart contract automatically pulls the tokens from the pool and completes the transaction.
