Tips for identifying scam tokens
Assalamu Alaikum
Thousands of new tokens are being unveiled in the cryptocurrency market every day. While many of them are excellent projects, a large portion are scams or fraudulent tokens. Scammers usually steal money from ordinary investors by making them dream of getting rich quick. Therefore, it is very important to verify whether a token is real or fake before investing in it.
The biggest proof of the reliability of any token is its liquidity. If the liquidity of a token is not 'locked', then the developers can run away with all the money at any time (which is called a 'rug pull'). Also, if it is seen that the majority of the tokens (such as 50% or more) are deposited in a few wallets, then it is a big 'red flag'. This can be easily verified using platforms like 'dextools' or 'rugdoc'.
Sometimes scammers code in such a way that you can buy tokens but not sell them—this is called a ‘honeypot’. Before investing, check the token address on sites like ‘honeypot.is’ or ‘bsccheck.eu’. Also, make sure the project is audited by a reputable organization (such as CertiK or Hacken). Investing in unaudited projects is very risky.
The identities of those working behind a legitimate project (Doxxed Team) are usually revealed. If the identities of the team members are hidden or their LinkedIn profiles seem fake, be careful. Also, visit the project’s Telegram or Discord group and see what the discussion is like. If there is only talk about price increases and the admins do not answer any technical questions and ban you, then you know that Dal Mein Kuch Kala Hai.
Read the project’s white paper carefully. Is it copied from another project? Does it just have big words or does it solve a real problem? If a token has no real-life use or utility and is based solely on ‘memes’ or hype, it is likely to be a scam in the long run.
In short, your greatest asset in the crypto world is your awareness. Don’t invest out of “FOMO” or fear of missing out. Always do your own research or DYOR. Remember, the crypto market is highly unregulated; once you put money in the wrong place, there is no legal way to get it back. So, it would be wise to use the tips above to ensure its transparency before investing in any token. Safe investments are the key to your financial future. Today's discussion concludes here. I hope you've found it interesting. Please share your thoughts on today's topic. Prayers for everyone. May everyone be well. Amen.
