Hello and good evening steemians both new and old. Today on my Steemit Tutorial, we would be looking at what new steemians who don't have anyone to guide them are to do after account creation. This is a really important post and it applies to both old and new members as no one is above mistakes so I felt the best place to post it was here. Let's have a look at what this post is about. Secure Your Password

This is the most important aspect of any decentralized crypto related application, wallet or platform. Your password is your power and your responsibility. If you keep it carelessly, an intruder can gain access to your account and also you would be locked out in the case of key loss. I was robbed and lost my keys with my former device but during my achieve 1, I backed up my keys to several places so I was not affected. Imagine a case where it was only on that device and it got stolen. I wouldn't be here today. Many people just rush and do their achievement 2 without actually knowing it's essence and end up not learning anything. All keys are important and have their various uses.

Here is a direct link to the communities home page. Some people find out about Steemit when browsing and hence they wouldn't know what to do once they enter. As a newbie, the first thing you see on Steemit is short and vague posts with $700+ votes due to upvote boys like upvu and tipu and they try to imitate what they have seen to get the same kind of votes but after numerous trials and failures, they leave the platform in frustration. So inorder to avoid this, I made this post because I was once like that.

Going through the pinned posts in the community and every other community on Steemit is very salient as it tells us about the community, it's goals, achievements and objectives and the rules guiding the community as well as any other thing they want people to know about. The pinned tweets in newcomers community also let's you know what to do in all your achievements from 1 - 6. If they still aren't easy to understand then you can scroll down and look at the curated achievements of your fellow newcomers.

Avoid Plagiarism

As someone who has been on Steemit for a very long time, there is one thing that isn't tolerated anywhere on Steemit and it is plagiarism and content theft. This blockchain tries to promote proof of brain and creativity so if you plagiarize, the aim is defeated.

Even after the achieve 3 which focuses on proper citation and avoiding plagiarism, there is still a very high late of plagiarism due to various reasons. This is bad as defaulters get warned and placed under watch. If they were caught the 2nd time, they would suffer numerous amounts of downvote and muting from the community. When we look at it objectively, the consequences to plagiarism are higher than it's rewards. Always Try to be original, hardworking and productive. Content theft is a painful thing, I know this because I suffered something similar a few months back and trust me I wasn't happy to see someone else steal my hardwork.

Ask Questions and Make Observations

When posting in a community for the first time or coming across something you are not familiar with, you are free to ask any of the admins or mods a question. They are always there to help. Some people see alot of things and ignore them. For example you come to this community and you see everyone setting 10% of post rewards to @tron-fan-club then you decide to turn a blind eye and make a post without setting any percentage. When it's time for curation and you don't get, don't complain because you didn't follow the guidelines. Another example is when setting where the percentage goes to and they don't know the community account username, instead of asking they end up setting the rewards to the wrong accounts. In the Steemit Crypto Academy, many people have failed numerous questions because they didn't understand and failed to ask questions, the same thing applies for contests. Let's cultivate the habit of asking questions.

One can't just enter Steemit today and understand everything without a tutorial or a tutor, so it's necessary to teach what you know and be there for any newbie who seems your assistance. As a moderator in a community, many come to me for help for various things and even tutorials on how to write posts and I always endeavor to help in every little way that I can.
