Oggi pubblico un nuovo post targato #lobook. Questo tag contraddistingue una specie di rubrica in cui condivido la mia esperienza riguardo a un libro, iniziando dall'acquisto e terminando con la mia personale recensione. Questo nuovo episodio prende ispirazione dal romanzo di Chris Kuzneski, pubblicato con il titolo The Lost Throne (la cui versione iniziale risale al 2008). La versione italiana che io ho letto è Il Trono di Dio, pubblicata come prima versione italiana nel 2010 e curata da Gian Paolo Gasperi. Nell'immagine sottostante puoi trovare una foto con la copertina. Ho rimosso alcune parti provando a evitare possibili pubblicità dirette. La versione mostrata nelle immagini risale invece al 2013.

Ho acquistato il libro in formato tascabile diversi mesi fa. Ho trovato più edizioni disponibili e dal prezzo differente, con cifre maggiori per le versioni in copertina rigida e minori per quelle a copertina morbida. Il primo prezzo che ho trovato navigando sul web qui in Italia è di circa €9,80, per poi salire fino a €19,60. Ci sono poi varie offerte che permettono di acquistarlo a un prezzo minore, ma ovviamente c'è una grande variabilità da rivenditore a rivenditore. Per esempio, io l'ho acquistato a metà del prezzo di copertina.
SFOGLIANDO LE PAGINE
Le parole di un uomo moribondo, datate 1890. Alcuni monaci uccisi in maniera raccapricciante ai giorni nostri, in Grecia. Un agente in Russia, bloccato nel mirino di qualche sicario.
Una trama che sembra avere tutte le carte per uno svolgimento scoppiettante. Dopo averlo letto, posso dire qualcosa in più, senza tuttavia cadere nello spoiler. L'aspettativa è stata un poco delusa: in realtà ci sono pochi momenti salienti e ho percepito in più occasioni un "gira e rigira" intorno a dei fatti di poco conto, quasi per nulla funzionali al procedere del filo principale del romanzo. Non è un libro da evitare, può essere una lettura accettabile. Per i miei gusti, troppo lungo se raffronrato a ciò che viene narrato.
Un'opinione stilistica. A me ha dato fastidio la visuale da narratore onnisciente che qualche volta diventava molesta, non so se scelta narrativa volontaria oppure frutto di qualche svista. L'esempio che faccio è la descrizione di particolari interiori su tutti i personaggi coinvolti in una scena raccontata all'interno di uno stesso paragrafo. Questo stona e fa inceppare la lettura, per me un contesto recepito poco naturale. Per il resto, una narrativa semplice da romanzo che mi ha reso soddisfatto.
Un'ultima segnalazione: a primo impatto, il libro mi ha lasciato l'impressione di un clima esoterico. Non ne ho invece trovato molto procedendo nella lettura. Si può recepire un clima da Mistery, ma di esoterico c'è davvero poco.

VALUTAZIONE PERSONALE
Per la mia personale valutazione del libro, uso di solito due tipi di voto: un VOTO GENERALE, basato su un approccio più obiettivo al testo (dove considero per esempio il modo di scrivere dell'autore, la trama, gli errori riscontrati, eccetera), e un VOTO COINVOLGIMENTO, basato invece sulle sensazioni che mi ha trasmesso (se mi ha attratto, se mi ha intrigato e invogliato nella lettura, se mi ha lasciato informazioni utili, eccetera). Ognuno dei due voti viene contrassegnato da un numero di stelle che va dal minimo di 1 al massimo di 5.
Nel caso de Il Trono di Dio, il mio personale responso è:
Voto GENERALE: 3/5
Voto COINVOLGIMENTO: 3/5

Today I publish a post about my #lobook initiative. Here, I share my experience about a book, beginning from the buying and finishing with my personal review. You can read more about lobook, consulting my first Lobook post here on Steemit.

This new episode takes a cue from the Chris Kuzneski's novel, published with the title The Lost Throne (dated back to 2008 for the native version). The Italian version I read is Il Trono di Dio, first publication in Italy dates back to 2010 and curated by Gian Paolo Gasperi. In the image below, you can see a cover picture from which I removed a few parts, trying to avoid possible direct advertisings. This version dated back to 2013.

I bought the book several months ago, in the paperback format. There are multiple editions with different prices, major for the hard-cover version and minor for the softcover one. The first price I found surfing the web here in Italy is €9,80, and reaches €19,60. You can find different price on your homeplace or online, someone with various offers. As example, I bought it at half the original price.
TURNING PAGES
The words of a dying man, dated 1890. Some monks, murdered in a gruesome manner in modern-day Greece. An agent in Russia, stuck in the crosshairs of some hitman.
It's a plot that seems to have all the makings of a crackling development. After reading it, I can say something more without falling into spoilers. I expected more: there are few salient moments and on several occasions I noted some turn of phrases on facts of little importance, not very functional to the main thread of the novel. It's not a book to avoid, it can be an acceptable read. To my taste, it is a bit too long compared to what is narrated.
A stylistic opinion. I was annoyed by the omniscient narrator's view which sometimes became annoying, I don't know if this was a voluntary narrative choice or the result of some oversight. The example I give is the description of interior details about all the characters involved within the same paragraph. This clashes and makes the reading jammed, for me an unnatural perceived context. For the remaining parts, a simple novel-like narrative that made me satisfied.
One final note: at first glance, the book left me with the impression of an esoteric atmosphere. However, I didn't find much as I read further. You can sense a Mystery atmosphere, but there is very little that is esoteric.

PERSONAL RATING
For my personal rating of the book, I usually use two votes: a GENERAL VOTE, based on a more objective approach to the text (where I consider for example the author's way of writing, the plot, any errors found, etc), and an INVOLVEMENT VOTE, based instead on the effect that reading had on me (if it attracted me, if it intrigued and tempted me, if it gave me useful information, etc.). Each of the two ratings is marked with a number of stars, from one to 5.
In the case of Il Trono di Dio, my personal response is:
GENERAL Vote: 3/5
INVOLVEMENT Vote: 3/5

With little research I found that Chris Kuzneski is the New York Times bestselling author.
Thanks for your feedback. I found some interesting titles by him, but the novels I read are in Italian, and we have only a few titles by Kuzneski. It's unfortunate.
I really think I love these types of subjects of books. It really have a way of grooming one to know how it actually works
It's certainly a hard work, building a novel like the ones you love. To be honest, in my experience, all the books need a long working time and ingenuity.
Dici che ti aspettavi di più quando lo hai letto ,e da quello che continuo a leggere non lo giudichi bene, ma accettabile, bene non sono molto entusiasta di leggerlo stando a questo, ma sarò sincero, è da un po' che non leggo un libro, ma questo non è nella mia lista secondo la tua analisi ,che secondo me è abbastanza affidabile
