You are right although these buildings are equipped with standby generators which kicks off almost immediately once there is a power interruption. They avoid the very difficult situation of residents and guests being stuck for a long time inside the elevator during a brownout. 😪 Also they have 3 elevators so it would just be really a bad day if all 3 broke down at the same time

I assume you never occured a blackout thusfar and have plenty of power and plenty of oil (diesel or gasoline) to keep those generators running endlessly. I don't believe any building in the Netherlands, except for hospitals perhaps and the electric buses who supposed to be green and good for the environment and are charged by diesel generators, have them. Elevator stuck (hotels included) means you walk the stairs.
