A Melancholy Time
A melancholy time! So charming to the eye!
This is exactly what the 18th-century Russian poet Alexander Pushkin wrote.
I've heard this poem many times and learned it by heart in school, but I still don't understand the autumn period that the great poet sang about in this poem.
In his poem, he mentions a forest that is dressed in yellow and red clothes, i.e., the trees in the forest are brightly colored. This period is usually called the Golden Autumn. It's not a dull time for me, it's a joyful time. But here is a period when it rains, when the trees have lost their leaves, there is no Sun in the sky, but only a solid gray haze - it is at such a time that I remember the lines "A melancholy time!" and no charm for my eyes.
