Context & Space Drawing - Big vs. Small - Ran Art BlogsteemCreated with Sketch.

Besides the sense of depth, you can add a sense of space, and give it context.

Hereby, some tips:

By adding a big object (a character in this case), in a certain place (cave in this example), you can make the space look small.

When adding a small object (boat) to the same space (cave), it appears to be big.

So, an object can define space.

And vice versa, a space can define an object.

Sometimes, when drawing a tree in a pot, the pot makes it look small, like this bonsai tree:

When giving context, meaning when drawing the bonsai tree in a room, which we roughly know the size of a room, it makes the bonsai look smaller, like it suppose to:

On the other hand, a worm is usually small.
Yet, when drawing familiar objects around it, like trees, it looks like a huge, monstrous worm:

Thank you very much.

Good lesson. The artist on the account knows these things but I (@jae5086) am always interested to learn more about art, even if I am not the artist.

Drawing means always learning more.
I never stop learning, even though I teach drawing 6 days a week, I still have books near my bed.

That's how you keep improving. And it's easy to do when you love your work.

I agree. I told a student today that I draw better than I did 6 months ago. He asked how can it be if I draw for so many years (I am 50 y/o), so I told him that there is always more to learn and improve, and if someone draws the same for too long, it means they need to learn more.
Of course brush mileage is just as important. Practice, practice, practice.

The last drawing is creepy and awesome :)

Dear painter, I loved your way of presenting your drawings from an artistic point of view, in which you show graphic techniques and the process of creative technique that shows the three-dimensional drawing as if it simulates reality. It takes me to the depths, and I find myself in a state of awareness, diving and diving, looking for the unknown behind the lines, and looking closely at the dark areas, as if there was a secret hidden by the creative painter, and he put lines from his memories and colored them with a mixture of contradictory feelings and sensations, and we do not forget his final touch that ended it with the imprint of his soul.

Great art 🤩
