SLC29-W3 | Urban Discovery Journey : Religious Cultural Activities.

My religious visit was to Saint Patrick Catholic Church, also known as St. ** Patrick's Parish. The church is a Roman Catholic place of worship and a central hub for the Catholic community in Akwanga, Nasarawa State. The church is part of the Catholic Diocese of Lafia and serves as the seat of Akwanga.

The church is located along the Keffi-Abuja road. Having this address: W96Q+PVG, A234, Akwanga 960101, Nasarawa, Nigeria. It is always easier for people to locate the church as it is just by the roadside.

One thing that the church is known for is its cross-shaped architectural design and expansive grounds. The church has a big piece of land for parking and playing football which children usually make use of the available land to play football.

There is a sanctuary inside the church and the sanctuary is the holy place where people go in and pray. It is a place of prayer and interception. Catholics have their own way of praying and the sanctuary is where Catholics usually go and pray.

Close to the sanctuary is the Reverend Father's house. The house is only meant for the Reverend Father of the parish and other close stations. Some boys are working in the Parish house.

The facility of the church features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking lot. The entrance gate is an old modern way of building and some parts of the church are under renovation.

The church typically hosts three mass services on Sundays and as of Friday evening, when I visited the church is saw how curates were practicing on Sunday. The church grounds are generally open 24 hours a day for private prayer and visitors.

The church serves as a venue for major diocesan and state-level religious gatherings, like the annual general meeting of the Catholic association in Akwanga.
