My Actifit Report Card: May 20 2026

Starting in the charming village of Lyme Regis, I strolled along the famous Cobb, the historic harbor wall that has seen countless sailors and fishermen over the centuries. The tide was out, revealing the rocky beach, and I took a moment to scan the shore for fossils, which Lyme Regis is famous for. It was fascinating to think about the ancient marine life that once swam in these waters, now long gone but preserved in the stone.
As I continued along the coastal path towards Charmouth, I encountered a group of fellow walkers. They were a lovely family on holiday, and we struck up a conversation about the best spots for fossil hunting. They shared some tips about the types of fossils they had found—mostly ammonites and belemnites, which are quite common in this area. It was delightful to hear their excitement, and it reminded me of the joy of discovery that comes with walking in such a rich historical landscape.
The path led me past stunning views of the cliffs and the ocean, with the vibrant hues of the chalk cliffs contrasting beautifully against the deep blue of the sea. At one point, I sat down on a grassy knoll to enjoy a quick picnic. As I munched on sandwiches, I watched a few seabirds gliding effortlessly above the waves and could even spot a couple of sailboats dotting the horizon.
Reaching Charmouth, I visited the beach to see if I could find any fossils myself. I was lucky enough to find a small ammonite, which made my day! There’s something incredibly rewarding about finding a piece of history hidden in the earth, knowing that it’s been there for millions of years.
