The girl child is one of planet earth special gifts and at such, they deserve to be celebrated. I'm glad Nigeria was a part of that celebration.
What do you know about the day? |

The day is one that's set aside to celebrate the girl child round the world. The girl child is a decision cate and fragile creature, yet the world places so much pressure on them that some of them cannot help but crack.
It's for this reason that this day was set aside to celebrate the girl child and make them feel loved, special, wanted and cared for. I'm so glad that my country Nigeria was not left out from this exercise.

My mascot is a young girl. Her radiant smile should be what the world should strive to give the girl child. Every girl child deserves to be happy.
What are the changes you think this day has brought to your community.
On this day since we have lots of sensitisation, there's a marked change in how parents relate with their girl child. Some parents/guardians went extra miles by calling a radio station and telling them to wish the best for their girl child.
Who are the active promoter, and what do you think can be added to have more impact to your community. |

The active promoters of this day I would say is the media. Both social and mass media took this opportunity to sensitise the general public on the usefulness and importance of a girl child. The rights and responsibilities of the girl child was also listed and many outstanding girl children won prizes that day. It was truly one to behold.
This event could be made more meaningful if it is continued. The girl child should be celebrated beyond the girlchild day. Everyday, she has to be nurtured and treated well, till she eventually grows to look out for herself. Remember in every successful woman is a successful girlchild.

In conclusion I'm glad I could be a part of this this day and would cease this opportunity to shout out to all the girl child in the world. You are special, You are unique and. You've got a beautiful future awaiting you.
As part of celebration for the day This is a poem I composed specially for every steem girl child;
There she goes, a delicate frame,
A budding silhouette of a great woman.
With innocence and naivety like an unfettered white crane.
Infectious Smiles from her milkteeth
As wide as polished sunbathed lane.
Yet in the shrill darkness,
Insecurities and fears threatens her smiles
Despair and bitter affection it offers her no less
fragile and teetering she prays for Grace.
Grace my dear girl child, you're loved,
Wanted needed and craved.
Stay strong and navigate life's flow
With your heart still pure Nd aglow.
Happy international girl child day.
