The Windmill of “Tia Faleira”, located in the parish of Fajã de Cima, in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, is one of the few remaining traditional windmills on the island of São Miguel. Although the exact date of its construction is unknown, historical records indicate that it remained in operation until the mid-19th century.

In 2001, the windmill was carefully restored by the Parish Council of Fajã de Cima, ensuring the preservation of this important example of rural Azorean heritage. Today, it stands in good condition, allowing visitors to take a journey back in time and gain insight into the daily lives and agricultural practices of past generations.

Situated at a scenic viewpoint, the windmill offers more than just architectural interest. From this elevated location, visitors can also enjoy panoramic views over the parish and the southern coast of Ponta Delgada, where the landscape and the Atlantic horizon merge in a striking and memorable setting.
