Hops Update
Here we are about one month into summer and I'm writing to give an update on my hops. They are cascade hops that will go into an IPA homebrew session.
The cones look mighty and the lupulin is developing nicely. I'll write an update later this summer when it gets closer to harvest time.

Those are some beautiful cones! I've found a decorative variety in a shop and I bought it just for fun, but it's been so slow growing and there isn't a single cone on it.
This autumn I'm going to get some proper varieties and get them going, for the same homebrewing purposes :D

I would check those bad boys daily as well :) You can never have too much hops, I'm going through pellets like a mad man, heh.
I will document their growth, need to decide on the varieties first, there's so many to choose from, I do think cascade will be one of the plants.

I don't know anything about hops, think I could grow them in North Texas?
@strangerarray, it's possible. Hops love some good ol heat. I'm sure it gets pretty hot where you live. Out my way it can get up to 100' in summer. But my hops are soaking in the sun and doing great! Give them a try. They are very low maintenance and will grow back year after year. Let me know if you'd like more tips or start some up. Cheers!

Hop cuttings are called rhizomes. Buy them in early spring from a local homebrew shop that sells them or from Amazon or even online sites. They sprout quickly and like to climb so plant them near some sort of trellis. Within a few months they'll be climbing and budding.
