Hi! I'm Alicia.

I am a Canadian student who loves travel, wellness, fitness and food.

I decided to create a Steemit account after hearing about it on the That's So Retrograde podcast. It seems like an amazing way to get creative and connect with like-minded people! I don't quite understand how it works yet…but I thought I’d start by talking about my favourite things.

Travel: There's nothing I love more than exploring new cities and meeting new people. In my 22 years on earth I’ve been lucky enough to visit 12 countries (some of them several times). Travel is a priority in my life as I feel it widens my perspective. I’d love to share my favourite places and future plans with you.

Wellness: I am a wellness junkie! After spending my first year of university completely stressed out, I dove headfirst into wellness. I fell in love with healthy eating and natural healing modalities, and I’ve spent the past three years trying out different wellness trends. I’d love to share what has and hasn’t worked for me, as well as my favourite healthy recipes.

Fitness: Similar to wellness, my love of fitness intensified after I realized how therapeutic it could be. I grew up dancing five days a week, quitting in 12th grade. Around the same time I became interested in wellness, I began running, lifting weights and experimenting with different types of fitness. Today I still run and lift weights, but I also love hiking, HIIT, pilates, barre, yoga and kickboxing. I’ll try anything once (fitness-wise anyways), and I’m always looking for a way to switch it up! I’ve found confusing my body yields the best results, and I’d love to share my own experiences here!

Food: Like most people, I spend most of my time thinking about food. Dating a chef for the past four years has only intensified this. As much as I love wellness, I love indulgence…life is about balance after all. I’m lucky enough to have a fine-dining chef in the house (check out his artistic/drool-worthy Instagram @seanymacd), so I eat pretty well. During our travels, we’ve been to both amazing Michelin and terrific hole-in-the-wall restaurants. I’d love to share our favourite foods, restaurants and recipes.

So there you have it-the four things I spend most of my time thinking about (aside from school… a topic I may broach after finals season of my last year). That's a good way to start, already. Keep quality of your posts up, even if you won't get what you deserve in the beginning, stay with it, gain supporters and support whatever you think is valuable content. Have a good start. @steemokto greeting you :-)

Welcome to steemit! Will have to check out that podcast. FYI there is a bug for five tags that only shows your post in the first. Do four until it is fixed, you will get more views that way.
