Hi there! thanks for introduce our Shinkansen. haha. yeah... even local train, when the time is a bit delay like 3-5 min. The train stuff make an announcement "We are very sorry about our delay" I feel it's a bit too much sometimes...^^;
And actually Tokyo-Kyoto is now 2h20min with Nozomi (Super express Shinkansen) but when people from overseas use JR Rail Pass, Nozomi is unavailable so need to take Kodama(gengeral Shinkansen) or Hikari (a bit faster than Kodama) , it will take around 3 hours I think... but Nozomi is too fast to enjoy the scenery of outside so I think Kodama or Hikari are better... haha, just a small information.
Thanks for the info @yo-yo! It's my pleasure to talk about these trains because I think they are an incredible piece of machinery ; and it's a pleasure being inside while they go 250km/h 😄
Also we did several trips and I think we were in both Hikari and Nozomi because both names are familiar to me.
So, I guess Hikari is 光 (light), which I learned some time ago (yeah 😉)... right? But Nozomi, is that 望み ? Wish? Hope?
