I don't believe that any progress in a discussion can be made unless it first proceeds from agreement. So, when -ist labels are thrown about, and I care enough to try, I try to dig past them. I don't believe that anybody truly is communist, capitalist, democratic, utopianist, egalitarian, humanist etc. for the sake of each of those labels. Those labels are like false idols that are ways to approach what we care about. Usually it's the same things; a concern that every human gets to fulfil their full potential - which first means a chance to move out of poverty. The rest is window dressing on how we get there.
I don't think anyone can really be an absolute something.
