Seeing Christmas From A Different Perspective

in #life7 years ago

This Christmas has been pretty memorable and special to me. Spending it with the awesome @exyle and @bkdbkd as well as getting a first hand insight into the greatness of a big family uniting at this time of year, is humbling for me and quite emotional too.

Strange as it may seem, I've never experienced anything like this before. Due to circumstances out of my direct control in my younger years, members of my familial environment back home have always consisted of maximum two people, though mostly one. So seeing a large groups of strongly bonded relations gathered around a table at Christmas time, is a wistful affair of reflecting upon what could have been.

This is not to say that I'm not grateful to those "few" people that have helped shape my life into what it is today (my wife @rea being one of them), but it is interesting to be able to observe events like these from a wider point of view. And how beautiful it is to see. There are rarely things in life more heart-warming than the unabashed ties you feel to those you love the most.

Yeah, it's safe to say I'm having one of the most memorable Christmas's I could have ever imagined and in the best way possible. It's a shame @rea couldn't not have been here too, but such is our dictated situation at the moment. All I know is that this is the very first official "Christmas dinner" I've had the honour of taking part in and put simply, nothing could've been sweeter.

Appreciate all the "good" life throws your way, no matter how seemingly insignificant it may appear in the here and now. Turns out that they may end up meaning the most, when all else is said and done.

Reading your post, I once more realized how fortunate we are having a big family and being able to be together at Christmas.
We had, have and will have our difficulties, but we stay together and try where possible and if necessary to be there for each other.
I will especially try to remember the last sentences of your message, they should be a guide for everyone.
It was an honor to have you with us and we hope to meet again in the future.

Awww, that's too sweet , @clio. The honour was all mine! You have a lovely family. I'm so glad you're all so very blessed to have each other and I was lucky enough to be a small part of it this year. Can't tell you how great it was to see you and everybody there at the dinner. Great memories.

Thank you so much and look forward to meeting you again in the near future. :)

Hello from Greece !!! It's sound very nice to hear (read) Big Thanks, to the people who helped and helping....!!! We mustn't never forget them...! I wish you the best for the new year !!!

Thank you, friend. Wishing you all the best too! :)

It shows the power of not only community but the relationships that forge them. I used to be the same way as my family is somewhat dysfunctional and after my dad passing, nobody was there to put us together. Fortunately, my wife’s family is the complete opposite so it is great to share those moments of joy and nostalgia from discussing past experiences...
