Does anyone think that this is Dodgy? ITS ONE OF THE 7 WONDERS OF THE WORLD.
I tried to vote for you buster, I really did.
Yesterday, in Queensland Australia, we had to vote. Yes, here in our "democracy" we were all forced to vote on a variety of crap political party options. My partner, who was fined last year for not voting pointed out a very interesting point.
He said as we walked out of the voting place, don't you think its a bit dodgy that we vote in pencil. That was what was provided at the pole office. A tiny little pencil way smaller than this one.
While we were driving home, I googled why.
This is the article I found.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-06-02/why-do-we-have-pencils-and-not-pens-at-polling-booths/7464484
For those of you not interested in reading the article, it basically tells you, that the reason we vote in pencil, is due to a law that was made before the invention of the biro, or the ballpoint pen. FFS.... this is such a joke, I can't believe it.
They then go on to say, that the reason they don't provide pens is that ballpoint pens dry out in tropical climates while stored between elections. WTF !!!!
This election was so important for everyone....EVERYONE, its one of the 7 wonders of the world, The Great Barrier Reef is in real trouble. We just got smashed by a cyclone in March, called Debbie, which destroyed a lot of the fringing coral reef in our part of the National Marine Park. She raged for 36 hours, she sat over us and moved @6 km/ph and minced everything in her path. Her eye was 100kms wide. She came in right in over the top of us. Wow was she fierce! I will do a post about that at some stage.
The reason this election was so important is that the party in power, want to bring in a company called Adani, a giant mining company, to mine coal. Adani have a very bad reputation for dodgy operations and disasters that have not cleaned up. They plan to ship this coal out through the worlds Great Barrier Reef National Marine Park. I can't believe it's even being considered.
ADANI...
This is our Jewel, this is our pride and joy. I don't know anyone in this area who isn't passionate about trying to do something constructive to save our the Reef. With the reputation of this company, we all feel like imminent disaster will strike. It's more likely than not.
If this Reef wrecking Adarni lover gets in, and we voted in Pencil, was it rigged? It certainly has the potential to be. No other legal or govt doc is allowed to be filled in, in pencil.... so why?
Do you sense a lack of trust....I have lost so much faith in our part of the world, and many other parts of this world.
Do other countries vote in pencil too......? or is it just here in Australia.
Its un-bloody-believable.
Govt the - voice of the people. I call bullshit to that.

Yes there is likely no way technologically possible to archive your answers better than with a stubby pencil... makes perfect sense LOL Good grief. Sometimes you just have to shake your head. Hoping the long term interest of fast disappearing and irreplaceable ecosystem prevails over the short term gains to be had from coal mining. Cheers - Carl
I couldn't agree more Carl. I went out there today, i worked on my partners boat. Its just shattering to see what we are losing. Thanks for your comments, I wish globally we could do something about it, but it seems elected governments are not really the representation of the people.. They are a representation of greed and shortsightedness. :(
Save The Reef!!
Thanks, @doctorcrypto! Its so important, butIi fear we are too late. My partner is a skipper and is out on the reef every day... he watched it fluoresce 1 week before the cyclone came in and smashed us. He said he'd never seen anything like it. That is the first stage of coral bleaching. The water was just too hot. The cyclone chilled the water, but also smashed up the reef.
Yes, I've read numerous articles about the reefs dying.
Global warming... It's a sad state of affairs.
The world is like a drug addict, addicted to how we live. The mining companies are like the dealers destroying us and our planet... but we cant cope without it... addicted fools. I reckon we need to return to the simple life.
We have a big program on it tonight on the Tv, just as the adani loving reef wrecker gets back into power. Fingers crossed, but it doesn't look promising.

I think you might be a little paranoid. It's likely a lot easier to rig an election than to go through every vote and erase it.
I think it says more about how they can't seem to reverse old laws that no longer make sense. They could reverse the law, still keep pencils, because they're cheap asses, and then people who have pens could use their own.
yes but rubbed out votes have been found!!
what scumbags...
not in this one, as we are still counting.
