The Milky Way galaxy, also called the Milky Way according to KBBI, is a very large spiral galaxy. It contains the Solar System, which is where the planet Earth revolves around the Sun. During the history of the Milky Way, several important events occurred such as the formation of a black hole at the center of the galaxy and the spread of chemical elements throughout the galaxy through supernovae. The Sun is just one of the stars that make up the Milky Way galaxy. This galaxy is of the Hubble SBbc type, having a total mass of about one trillion times the mass of the Sun. All of these processes form the complex and diverse galaxy as we know it today. Astronomers often use the term Milky Way to refer to this galaxy.

The Milky Way protogalaxy formed as a result of the merger of several smaller protogalaxies. This merger process also formed the spiral structure that is typical of the Milky Way, with spirals of stars and gas clouds stretching around the center of the galaxy. The Milky Way formed billions of years ago through the gravitational process of gas and dust clouds in the universe. Initially, this material was spread unevenly in space, but because of gravity, this material began to attract and gather to form larger clumps. These clumps then merged to form protogalaxies, collections of gas, dust, and young stars. Over billions of years, the material within these protogalaxies continued to grow, primarily through mergers with other protogalaxies.
