This plant is mainly popular as an indoor plant.
The flowers of this plant are a stunning example of nature's artistry. Their lower lips (petals) are puffed out and balloon-like, giving them a pocket-like appearance. These flowers are typically bright yellow, orange, red, and deep maroon. Often, these flowers have small brown or purple spots, further enhancing their beauty. Its leaves are large, velvety, and dark green.
Calleolaria is a delicate plant, so a few things should be considered when growing it: Weather and Temperature: This plant prefers a cool environment. It cannot tolerate extreme heat. Temperatures between 10°C and 18°C are considered ideal for its growth. It should be protected from direct and intense sunlight. Bright, filtered light is best. Indoors, place it near a window that does not receive direct sunlight.
Keep its soil moist at all times, but avoid waterlogging. When watering, be careful not to get water on the leaves and flowers, as this can cause fungus or rot. Always water near the soil. Use a light soil (such as a mixture of cocopeat, compost, and sand) with good drainage.
