A long journey to the highlands of Aceh Tamiang with friends. January 22, 2026

Hello everyone.

Hey Steemit friends, are you all doing well in the current world situation? I hope you all are doing well. This morning, my friends at the refugee camp and I walked tens of meters. After breakfast at the refugee camp kitchen, we continued our journey to the Aceh Tamiang highlands. We had planned to go there with our friends at the refugee camp the night before.

Every morning, when we have nothing to do, we feel incredibly bored. So, we went to the highlands to observe the conditions and situation in the highlands. We brought several packs of food, such as mineral water and rice packets, because we would definitely be overwhelmed and tired from traveling on foot. A moment we can't possibly repeat. We tried to take photos with my friend's cell phone because this was one of our long journeys, over very difficult roads due to the still very poor road access.

We arrived at the highlands at 3:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time), having left at 10:00 AM. We spent a lot of time on the road observing the collapsed roads and the destroyed homes. We also saw some food, such as fruit, in the forest, which is why we were late arriving at the highlands, where most of the residents were staying.

The children were very busy here. Everyone seemed happy because the playground was quite spacious. I hope the children here continue to do their best with their friends to avoid stress. It's different here, because we're on the coast of the forest, where the children are definitely looking for joy and playing games in the forest. To this day, I feel relieved because I think the Acehnese people have a strong mentality that never gives up in the face of circumstances like this.

We toured the evacuation area for about two hours. We saw a lot. The highlands also have public kitchens, and the residents are working together to do important things like cook together. However, there's no internet connection at all, and even the electricity isn't working properly. Just like where we are, we still can't access the internet, except when we have a Starlink internet connection from the aid.

Today, around 4:00 PM when the sun was about to set, the weather was already dark and a little cloudy. I hoped it wouldn't rain tonight. If it did, the village roads would definitely be muddy again. But when I saw the weather, it looked like it would rain tonight. We immediately returned with our friends, because the distance was very far, especially since we were walking.

We arrived at the refugee camp, on time, and the weather was still calm, at 8:00 pm. We immediately carried out our usual activities, and cooked together in the public kitchen. Tonight our breakfast was quite delicious, these were all vegetables grown in the forest, and we always processed them into food every day and night. Sometimes, when night falls and while eating breakfast, I always remember living in the past, sometimes my tears fall because I'm so sad, remembering past moments.

Now I have nothing left to think about other than taking care of my life and good goals and working consistently and regularly on Steemit. This is not for my daily salary, but Steemit is to entertain myself and move towards a beautiful future. Because in Steemit there are times when we have a strong SP, that's where easy happiness lies. Until now I always try hard to find a network so I don't miss a post.
