HEADING DOWN the CARMANS > > >
Heading down the Carmans river in Shirley, Long Island, NY. Detouring around a big Island in the river. You can easily get around at High tide. Lets see what we find.
This is a side branch and narrows down before you turn back to the river.
It was a windy day but nice and protected here. I spotted a Muskrat but he/she didn't stick around for a portrait.
Now we are back on the river where the big boys hang. I'm talking about the Osprey. Couldn't get any decent pictures of them flying overhead but did get some sitting on their nest.
These birds can have a wingspan of 5 feet / 1.52 m. I know it's far away, I'm new at this. :-)
This reminds me of a river we went fishing on in central California when I was a kid. Nice views, very relaxing. Were you on the river while photographing the Osprey's nest? Even closer would have been interesting, but probably not possible?
Yes on the river. Only way to get close enough. My mission is to get better pictures. I have better ones coming out soon, stay tuned. :-)
Will do!
sweet bro looks awesome
Kayak has opened up a whole new world to me.
What a nice riwer for paddling. Exiting birds. Ospreys are eagles?
Ospreys are similar but smaller.
Natural protection here is really good, there is a wild charm!
Really getting away from it all.
yes
Very interesting the point that the Ospreys come back from South America to the same nests and they rebuild and make them bigger each year. I didn't know this.
Continue enjoying your landscapes and continue sending us your photos. Thank you.
Greetings @manorvillemike
That is my aim. :-)
