No doubt it's going to be rough to begin with, how long for depends on the community, and in particular those with enough stake to impact ridiculous selfvoting/shitposting/bot stacking on turd content.
You have to admit though that the current path isn't a good one - time will tell whether this new direction is any better.

I do agree completely that is an issue to deal with and was absurd too... I think I would've opted to keep the small fry engaged and got the whales to use their power to stop some or most of that, but its not my blockchain and I'm certainly not an expert.
I am super happy with @steem-engine and the things it is sprouting daily, maybe that is all we need to keep our smaller people going? I also love the games that have been added (and will be added), and the possibility they bring for steem usage. So steemit itself takes a hit for awhile until they figure out the "magic formula", its not the end of the world. I'm not going anywhere :D
I hope my feelings towards that behaviour are clear enough, and I will be pointing some fingers later today.
Everyone needs to take part in the management of content, even if the smaller votes don't impact rewards that much.
Steem-engine and palnet are a godsend and we are lucky to have Matt and Aggy with us on Steem.
