Kitano is a Vegas Stripper

No...sadly I did not name Kitano...or as we just call him around the house...Tano. My ex-wife did and yes, he is named after a Vegas stripper. My ex used to work at a very large club there (handling money...not dancing...although she might be dancing now...i dunno) and she befriended one of the dancers there. She liked the name and I liked to not piss her off so....Kitano was born!

Tano was not planned. He is the 3rd in the pack of 4 and this Malamute with a hint of Timberwolf came home with me in 2004.

He was always a skiddish puppy but loved his bones.

And balls...

And blankets...as he was very sick. He had a severe heart condition and was to be sent back to be euthanized. At least that is what we were told. We had to sign a ton of paperwork absolving them from anything, and took him home to give him the best life we could offer him for as long as he had with us.

He spent a month in Durango Animal Hospital in Vegas where we were told to consider the option of putting him down as he was losing weight, not eating, and most importantly...not improving. We finally figured it out and it turned out his heart was fine....more than fine. Strong like bull! He has a rare parasite that he had since birth but it was treated and he recovered and joined us back home once again.

Suffer another hardship...in 2010 he suffered a massive stroke that woke us in bed at around 5 am. We were braced for the possibility that he might never walk again and were in the dark on how much damage was actually done. He was walking...THE NEXT DAY! Granted....like a drunk...but walking.

I visited him in the hospital daily until he was able to come home yet again.

I brought him to work with me daily.

With enough rest and love from the pack, he was in tiptop shape and back to normal. You would never know he suffered a massive stroke. The will in him is so strong and inspiring.

So it was back to chilling with the homies.

All in all he is an amazing dog. I am super grateful to have him by my side and as part of the pack. He will be turning 14 later in the year and while hes lost a step or two and his hearing is not as good as it used to be, he is still very puppy. On New Years he went into the hospital once again to have a cancerous mass removed on the side of his leg. He also had one of his kidneys removed for cancer as well. Once again,he was walking around the next day like nothing happened. He has gone through treatments and it is just the wait and see approach at this point. I am under no illusions that he will live forever but if it were possible...I think he would have the will to do so. He is going strong and happy and helps brighten my everyday. I am the luckiest man here on Steemit for this...

He really is the sweetest boy! Don't forget that when he had the mass on his leg and his left kidney removed, he aslo had a part of his liver removed. His recovery is inspiring. Dogs don't dwell on their pain and aches, they just moved forward - we can learn a lot from them.

Truth. They don’t feel sorry for themselves. They just continue on...happy as can be. We should all take note.

Wow, Tano has gone through some heavy life deals. A beautiful story of a living legend. Thank You for sharing! Your dogs are lucky to have such a loving master. I just had my cat in for light dealings and I was concerned I can't imagine how you felt during his major issues. Pet love you just have to LOVE it . :)

Thanks for the kind words brother. Yeah he has had some rough dealings but has made it through stronger than ever each time. I am very lucky with that. He is still extremely playful and puppyish. My animals are my world and I would do anything for them. Pet love......nothing else quite like it in the world...

This is amazing it just shows the right help can put a animal into recovery its annoying that so many always give the solution as putting the animal down where infact they sometimes just need the right help to give them a normal life, excellent life decision @blewitt

Yeah @simonjay, it’s truly sad when people resort to that as a first option. It should totally be the last resort. Obviously if the animal is suffering and there is 0 hope...I support it. But I’ve heard of people opting for issues that could be resolved. That’s sad.

You a big animal guy? My pups are my life and I feel have helped make me a better person.

I agree last option if only there is no hope and the animal is suffering, I dont know why but vets seem pretty trigger happy on putting pets down I feel many convince the owner its the right thing to do so they just do it.. sad really. Yea big animal guy when I was younger I had 3 dogs at one point and done what I could to help the strays.

Yeah we have 2 cats and had 4 dogs....my oldest boy Bandit passed away which destroyed me so the pack is a bit lonlier and smaller at 3 pups now.

I know the feeling man when I lost mine Pochy I was destroyed for a long time and to this day I still think about him and yea I can imagine the pack was effected by the loss of Bandit people think animals dont get effected by loss but they really do.

Stopping to say hi to Tano, that adorable one on the photo from #dogsofsteemit. 🙂 I did enjoy reading all about him from being a puppy. Glad you guys didn't agree to putting him down. More treats, balls and blankets for the big boy! Beautiful pack you got there. 😄

Tano says hi back!!! Im lying....he is passed out after a long day of being passed out. Lol. Thanks so much for the kind words @happyfree! My pups are my world and any chance I can show em off and tell a bit about them, I will take. I will be doing another tomorrow on my puppy Bindi...followed by a piece on my boy Bandit. Then I will be done with the contest. lol...Lots of pups means lots of entries!!! Please do check em out when they go up. Much appreciated. You a dog person yourself?

Yes and sure will be stopping by to check on those, that means another photos and pet stories to enjoy. 😄

What a good pupperroni

he eats pupperonis as well...lol. he is an angel

OMG hes picture from his time he was a pup is so cute!

one of the cutest pups i have ever seen...by far. lol. i know im biased but his puppy pics are way cuter than my others...lol

that parasite thing is crazy. good it was not his heart!

Yeah...almost 30 days in and we all could not figure it out. I did a ton of internet research and brought a printout of some strange parasite found in the Midwest or something like that. They read it and tried the appropriate treatments and he recovered quickly. They were great there. If anyone reading this is from Vegas and has pets they can be trusted to do Amazing things.

Tano has been through a lot but glad to hear he is still around for all life's adventures. It's heartwarming to see just how much he has fought through and still remains a loyal and loving best friend. Thank you so much for sharing!

Also, congratulations as you have won today's top prize for this entry into #dogsofsteemit challenge. I can't wait to meet the rest of the pack!

Thank so much for the kind words. I am extremely lucky to have such amazing pups by my side.

Well Maya and Tano have now won their days. Bindi and Bandit have to live up to their siblings and try to take home the gold as well on their days. Lol.
