RE: Evolving Consciousness

in #philosophy7 years ago (edited)

When we are fed up of insulting ourselves by allowing ourselves to identify and remain attached to illusions;

A few short years ago I understood how bad behavior(hating, stealing, lying,etc) harms the person behaving badly first and foremost. Even though the "victim" may get beaten, robbed or worse.
The offender has victimized his/her own soul. This is actually the greater offense.
I believe there are day to day truths , as you mentioned above. There are also eternal truths. The consequences of ignoring or denying deeper truths has a greater long term impact than ignoring or denying short term truths.
Many people are frustrated with life because they try so hard to obey short term truth without giving any credit to long term truth. They think of themselves as good people, working hard. Why don't things work out better for them? Why don't they feel at peace?
Accepting eternal truth brings peace beyond understanding.
Then we can make choices differently. With an eternal agenda, rather than an instant gratification agenda.

Sort:

Yes, we go against our core inner deeper truer self, but it's not a greater offense. We don't have ownership of others, while we do have ownership of ourselves. Violating others is a greater harm than violating ourselves. Yes, eternal truths like moral principles being lived by would make the world better for everyone.

I am saying that the harm to ourselves is actually greater because it attacks our soul(however you want to define soul), while the victim is attacked only physically, mentally or emotionally.
I do not want to minimize the damage done to the other, but to acknowledge however deep the hurt to another, the hurt to ourselves is even greater.
