Safe

in #philosophy6 years ago (edited)

Do you wish to always feel safe in your environment? Do you hate leaving the house because your feeling of safety leaves the farther you drive away from home?

Years ago, on a Saturday, my husband and I went to a yoga/meditation class. I was not the most enthused person about having to go to this class. I was working full time. It was my weekend to sleep in. To make my husband happy I was in a car, before noon, driving to the city to learn how to find peace of mind.

My thoughts ran along the lines of If I was still sleeping my mind would be very peaceful! I was in the perfect mood to meditate as you can see.

Oh, I almost forgot the best part. A dear friend of my husband and I also thought taking this class would be Good for me. Anyone that knows me well, will know that it was a miracle I ended up in this class. Yet I did.

A guest yoga teacher was teaching the class that day. He was famous all over the world. I saw people falling all over this quiet man. So many people were nervous about keeping him happy. I saw grown men that think the world revolves around themself bending over backward to help this famous teacher.

I just wanted the one hour class to go fast so I could go back home and sleep. I sat in the back of the class, with my head nodding, not saying anything. Okay, I might have grunted hello to someone. Not sure.

At this point in the story, I should tell you the famous teacher's name but I can not. I'm horrible at remembering people's names. One reason why is when I see or meet someone they give off feelings.
The feelings people give off to me then become their name in my mind.

The question then becomes how do I know if he was famous? Did I just believe this man? Ah, No, I did not. Once home, six hours later, I did do a bit of digging on the internet. He was the real deal. I knew it from meeting him, yet, why teach a small class of people on a Saturday if you are that famous? The answer would be the part that makes him famous. He saw himself as a normal man. He taught any that asked him as any great teacher would.

A lot went on that day. The teacher talked for over five hours. He was a calming and very interesting man.

My biggest takeaway from that day was an exercise he had us all do. We were told to sit on the floor at least an arm's length away from anyone. We were told to close our eyes and build a solid bubble around ourselves. We were to keep close eyes on our bubble to make sure it didn't start to crack. His quiet voice kept walking us through this exercise. I have no idea how much time passed.

I started to giggle. Loudly. I tried to stop. What I was seeing was just too funny to stop giggling.

The teacher, in a very kind way, asked me why I was laughing. I said that it was my bubbles fault. He then asked what my bubble looked like. I had to explain that the inside of my bubble looked a lot like the inside of Barbara Eden's ' I Dream of Jeannie's ' bottle. By now the whole class was laughing along with the teacher and me.

He went on to explain how he used this method for safety while traveling in airplanes and also while being in large groups of people. Large groups mean many emotions are also filling a room.

He explained if you practice enough on making your flexible bubble when you need to use it, you will not have to think. Making your bubble will become second nature. It will help keep unwanted emotions and people away from you. Making you feel safe no matter where you are.

I did ask him why a bubble and not walls. His answer was brilliant to me. A bubble moves, shifts along with you. you can not always keep people 4 feet away from yourself. Bubbles you can make big or small. They can just outline you and still not break. You also do not impose your walls over other people's emotions and walls. Wise words I thought.

I was working with the Public at this time in my life. The bubble helped me on days where the moon was full and everyone that came to my desk had problems that only I could fix.

Give it a try. I can not hurt you!

I had a great birthday filled with many laughs.

Thank you to all that were a part of my day!!

Help someone smile today. It can not hurt you.

I can honestly say this made me interrested, inspired... I never tried this myself but it seemed it really was a Great experience and I think I might need to have a bubble myself and I love how he explains it... A second nature and that you can make bubbles big or small. They can just outline you and still not break. ❤️
Thank you for sharing your experience and as always inspire just by being YOU 🤗🥰🌹❤️ Love you!

I'm so happy I shared the story then!!!

I think you would really love it!!

This is fantastic. Though I have feelings about famous yoga teachers, this guy sounds legit. Or at least has some legit offerings. That bubble is a great tool to use. Guess I should practice it more (I know this technique, just haven't used it for a while). Feeling safe is huge for me, and somewhat elusive, so I'm glad I read this post!

I hope you do!!

Thank You for stopping to read!!

Very interesting concept! And no wonder your bubble made you laugh. That's just a hoot!

Hi @snook. Thanks for sharing. I seem to have a reluctance to join yoga classes. I mostly practice on my own, or with guests if I have any.

I wonder, do you think you could feel safe in a bubble with seven other people?
