RE: Dancing to an Empty Square - Do We Keep Doing Our Thing When No One's Looking?
I've always felt that the best art was outsider art, stuff made by impassioned weirdos who created solely for the mad pleasures of their own vision, who made things or did things because they couldn't not make or do them. The true outsider artist will write or dance or paint even if no one reads or watches or looks at his work.
The hearts of the people are fickle and opinionated. Why ever create for the masses for fame alone? It is far better to pander to your own heart when you are creating. At least that way you enjoy the learning experience of honing your craft.
