๐ธ Irish Wildflowers. ๐ธ
The sweet little wildflower I present today is the Wavy Bittercress
Cardamine flexuosa
Irish name: Searbh-bhiolar casta
From the Brassicacae family.
It flowers from March until September and is a biennial/perennial.
It has petite white flowers with only four petals and six stamens.
The stems and leaves are slightly hairy with narrow leaflets on the upper stems, broadening out towards the base. It grows up to a height of 50cms.
This pretty plant thrives near streams, damp ground, waste ground, and of course in my garden.

Lovely photos - is it edible?
It is indeed, along with the Hairy Bittercress. I haven't ever tried it before, but will do now.
So many of these "weeds"... I like to call them wildflowers, are useful. Nature provides all of what we need.
So tiny and yet so beautiful
I do remember seeing so many beautiful pastures and wild flowers all over Ireland when I visited Ireland, Loved getting out of the cities and into the country
So many so-called "weeds", I call them wildflowers are useful in some way to us. Nature provides everything we need.
I totally agree with you K - weed suggests something unwanted! I want all wildflowers haha

these below are not edible but still beautiful contributions to the garden that came up randomly and some would pull out as weeds. I love them all!
Hairy bittercress is delicious and have you tried Cleavers? Or catch grass as sometimes called.
No I haven't tried cleavers. I shall have to look that one up ๐ค Thank you for letting me know about this plant.
yes I like or way of thinking I to consider them wild flowers, unlike man Nature is very organized everything has a useful purpose
So cool!
