RE: Most Americans receiving their information from the Main Stream Media

@acrowland, there are many posts from Steemians far more successful than myself on tips for beginners. @papa-pepper and @dragosroua are two that pop into my mind, and there are many others. Take some time reading through the advice posts of others who have achieved success.

As far as my personal advice, I would say few keys are passion, perseverance, and patience.

Passion: Find something that you enjoy, or a talent you have, and share it with others. Spend some time looking through posts in the tag relating to your passion or talent. Comment, upvote, and follow people with interesting and informative posts. Develop a connection with others, and they will begin checking out your posts also.

Perseverance: Post often (but not excessively), and consistently. Re-steeming is good, but also add your own original posts. Starting out, I would say post 1-4 times per day. More than that, and it can start to "flood" your followers. If you are posting daily, followers may go to your feed directly to see what you have for the day, since it is easy to miss posts from people you are following just by looking at your own feed, especially if you are following a lot of people.

Patience: Steemit is not a get rich quick site. It takes time to develop your skills at posting, obtain a following, and develop relationships. Every little bit you earn is money you didn't have before, and when the price of Steem goes up (which it has in the past, and will in the future), those earnings are multiplied.

Above all, enjoy yourself, have fun posting, reading, commenting, and don't get hung up on the money, otherwise, you will not be successful, you'll burn yourself out. Hopefully you were seriously asking for advice, and not just saying, "How do you get 6 bucks with this piece of shit, boring, not funny post, when I'm busting my hump to create work 10 times as good as yours, and don't get paid squat".

If that was what you meant by your comment, then I guess my lack of understanding the obvious becomes even funnier than my original post!
