7 Ways To Practice Self Love

in #selflove6 years ago

You must first love yourself before you can love another.
A very popular quote and a very true one!

If you go through life always trying to find someone to love, but neglect to give love to yourself, you'll always be trying to make two halves a whole.

Being whole and complete in your own skin before you find a partner to love, will attract someone to you who is also whole and complete (or at least working on it like you are ;) )

This myth that we are incomplete and need a partner to be whole is a crippling one.
Work towards becoming whole in yourself before you share yourself with another.

Here are some tips on how to show yourself the love you deserve.

  1. Spend Time With Yourself

And I mean just with yourself. Turn off the TV and get off the internet. Ask yourself how you're feeling today.
Think about your personality traits; which ones are empowering and which ones hold you back? If you have traits that are holding you back from succeeding in life, what can you do to change them?

Giving yourself the time for self analysis will help you get a clearer picture on what you like about yourself and what you would like to improve.

  1. Eye Gazing With Yourself in The Mirror

The eyes are the windows to your soul. If you're unsure about how you feel about a situation, your eyes will let you know!

Look deep into your eye and tell yourself, "I Love You."
This is such a powerful and beautiful thing to do!

  1. Positive Self Talk

While you're gazing into your own eyes, now is a good time to tell yourself all of the things you love about yourself.
"You look beautiful today!"
"I'm so proud of what you've achieved in life"
"You got this!"

These are some great examples, but of course personalise it to your own life experience.
Really feel the words you're giving yourself, we are emotional beings and there is a lot of power in working with emotions.

If you ever notice yourself speaking cruel words to yourself and putting yourself down, stop! Bring your attention to what is going good in your life. What are you grateful for today?
Practicing gratitude is a great way to switch a negative mindset into a positive one!

  1. Take a Long Bath

Nothing says 'I love you' more than taking a long bath!
Take the time to yourself to really deep cleanse. Set out some candles, turn off the artificial light and the extractor fan noise. This is your time to relax!
I personally don't like to wash with chemical soaps and so one of my favourite bath blends is:
Sea Salt
Bicarbonate
Lavender Essential Oil

Oats are also great to soak in, although I wouldn't do this too often just incase it blocked the drain :P

5)Foot Massage

After your long relaxing bath get out the coconut oil, (you can find a link here as to why coconut oil is so amazing!) moisturise your skin and give your feet a massage.
Our feet carry us everywhere we go in our bodies, give them some appreciation! The feet are part of the body that is really easy to self massage.

Also, our hands and feet are energy transmitters and receivers and connecting the two feels so healing!

  1. Eat Only What Nourishes The Body

When we eat a healthy balanced diet our body thanks us for it! The cells in our bodies are constantly regenerating. You're never too old or too far down the unhealthy track to change your eating habits for the better!
One of my favourite resources for nutritional information is draxe.com So many amazing recipes as well as articles relating to almost all areas of health.

Giving our bodies the fuel it needs is a wonderful act of self love!

  1. Tick Something Off Your To-do List

Having goals set and ticking them off gives yourself such a sense of achievement it keeps a smile on your face for the rest of the day! (That's how I feel when I get a blog post up!) We can get lost and feel down if we have no sense of direction. Set yourself a big '3 years from now' goal and take little steps each day towards it.

I hope you've enjoyed reading my self love tips and start to incorporate them into your life.
Here's to a happier, healthier you!

Much Love & Light,
Lila-May

Hello and welcome to Steem!

I would recommend going to your Wallet-page and power up the Steem you have, as the Resource Credits you have to use are based on the Steem Power.
Steem and Steem Power are kind of the same, but Steem Power is "locked" as power on your account giving you more resource credits. The resource credits are limited for different reasons including to prevent spam from small power accounts.

Just in case you don't have enough RC to power up right now, I'll also borrow some SP to you.

If you have any questions to ask, just leave a comment or find me on the chat :)

Thank you for your comment :) and invitation to the group. Not sure how to get there as the link got me to download the partiko app and from there it wanted me to download another app, but my phone doesn't have the space... :/ Is there a way to join the group on this platform?

Sorry I put the wrong link. This is the correct one https://discord.gg/uSwkRv3
Discord is a kind of standard apps for joining & chatting steem group which need to be downloaded but uses same username and password as steemit. Look forward to welcoming you to mindful life - you will meet many like minded people there. 👍🏼🧘🏼‍♂️🧘🏼‍♀️
