A new economic model
What if the economic model we are using is upside down?
Thanks to technological advancements scarcity is no longer a thing to the human race, yet our economic models force us to live in an era of artificial scarcity. Our base economic models operate on scarcity because they were created and developed in a time of scarcity.
Money is a tool based on imagination. It has value because we believe it to. If we are to examine value. What is value? What is value to us as humans?
In a logical economic model if I walked into a shop and picked up a coat, and left the shop I WOULD BE PAID.
Why? Because the real intrinsic value comes from me wearing the coat. A coat's value is providing warmth, utility, fashion, or whatever. There are enough coats for everyone. Coats have no value hanging on a shelf never to be worn.
So in this new economic model people would be paid for doing things they used pay for, and more!
It might seem unbelievable considering we have always followed different rules, and the rules we use now are "normalized". When things are "normalized" we may erroneously believe it to be an irrevocable natural state, when anything can be natural.
Getting paid to go to a restaurant, or pick up a jacket from a clothes store could very well be "normalized" in the near future.
The idea of getting paid to post stuff on the Steem blockchain through proof of brain isn't far fetched, because we use it. With SMTs for example you could create a token that people receive for doing real world activities, backed by the proof of brain model.
Proof of brain has the following two properties:
a pool of tokens dedicated to incentivizing content creation and curation (called the "rewards pool")
a voting system that leverages the wisdom of the crowd to assess the value of content and distribute tokens to it
Let's imagine an SMT with the following properties:
- A pool of tokens dedicated to incentivizing real world performance of improv, music, art, dance, and theatre.
- A voting system that leverages the wisdom of the crowd to assess the value of performance and distribute tokens to it
This token could work by being distributed to cast/crew, venue, and audience. You would GET PAID to enjoy performances because even the audience provide value.
In conclusion these kind of economic models can be utilized in many ways, and greatly expanded upon.
It is time to start a revolution in the Arts.
Deep thoughts indeed. Not completely unlike the universal income models I suppose but with a wisdom bonus build in.
I never thought of a coat not having value on a shelf.......
I appreciated this simple recap and application of the SMT idea to Arts.
I agree it takes a re-imagining of value for most people. Steem has allowed the imagination to see it's possibility.
I enjoyed reading this. Alternative economic models are the future and blockchain has a huge role to play!
I am glad initiatives like Manna exist and Steem of course!
I can see so many areas where we will be paid to do things we once paid dearly for!
Automation and AI will dramatically make this necessary!
can be extended and expanded in many ways but still a long way to discover
New economic mode is the need of the hour we are progressing time to change in models too
Smt's will be solving that problem for sure they have real world application use outside steemit for instance
I definitely will go in this direction at least partly and in areas where a network effect of the crowd adds to the value.
SMT are amazing they are bringing devlopers and common people at one place.such an amazing feeling.
the best time to start it time to go ahead
