I also found pairing Rexxie with Javelin Thrower can be a big help.
She goes first, stripping away armour; giving him a higher chance of killing the tank and triggering trample.
In gold league I look for ways to include Minotaur warrior too, as he's slightly faster than Rexxie (in gold). Between Javelin thrower and Minotaur warrior it's rare for a slow tank to still be standing after Rexxie hits.
