Are the tokens on Steem Engine creating value? Are they worth something?
Hello,
I know that this theme might be discussed over and over again, but due to the crypto market drop it might actual more than ever.
The crypto market to go must generate trust and value and this is what I want to talk to you about.
As I said in some posts ago, most of the tokens generated on steem-engine are crap. Or at least from my perspective. For the creator they are valuable as he put some thoughts, funds and energy into creating them. For me they are crap as i might see no use or value that comes from them or which can be extracted from them.
It might hurt some feelings, which is fine with me. I don't talk about feelings in here. I don't care if someone is offended as we live in the offended age. It is like going out and eating a pork stake. With this I offend over 70% of the worlds population, which I can live with.
So, I think some of them are creating real value and can be used for different purposes. I see some that have more use cases besides Steem and SBD, like being part of a community or a project and the token represents a share from it. It can be used as a profit share. If the token is used only to buy something that is free available on Steem it is not real bringing a plus value to the chain as Steem and SBD can be used. The only benefit can bring if it uniting a community and a lot of people use it. The mass use is one key factor. But, as most of the times there is a but involved, this mass of people will be always smaller than Steem users.
Some have value only because people buy them an give them value, even there is no real use case behind.
So my questions to you:
Do you see value on the tokens?
Why?
Are they worth something?
Can it be that this tokens will be more valuable than Steem? Think about it.
Thank you

The value behind the tokens is clear to me as they can solve many problems.
Target Audiences, I think this is the most important factor. If you start a token that is based on Investing like is the case for SteemLeo, the users don't have to filter through cat picture to enjoy the site. 2. It is called a verticle market in advertising. Meaning those who have something to sell would be able to enter into a "Warm Market" they can do this with ads but they can also do it with posts. For instance: I am launching a new business that supports traders in some way, marketing it on SteemLeo would be a better investment even though it has less people, because I know I am reaching my target audience and not the cat lovers. Marketers tend to pay more for this.. It is a standard business model that works.
User Experience: Each site over time can be customized to the various communities and their own users.
Distribution and Moderation: We both know that the current distribution of Steem eliminates real content discovery and there is no consensus on what reasonable moderation would be. These problems can be solved at the Tribe level.
Also, yes, most of the tribes will not be successful, but some of them will and yes they will add value.
@whatsup
I think the tokens have value, but there is a risk. When dumping them and selling the resulting STEEM, that hurts both that token and STEEM. The value comes from having specialized communities, with a distribution that is changed radically from Steem. It's easier for community members to have higher influence on curation, to see only content related to the niche if cleaning the feed works in the respective community, and to be rewarded accordingly. The price of the token may actually be different than its value. Some may be overpriced, others underpriced, at least for some time. And profit from speculation, if not reinvested in tokens, and withdrawn to STEEM and from there to fiat, that puts more pressure to the price of STEEM.
I only see the worth of PAL and LOE so far. I don't think other tokens will get a touch to the PAL price this year. Tribes are rapidly increasing dunno what's gonna happen.
Those tokens which create value (a need for a service, etc.) will be successful and those that don't will be dumped on the shit coin pile of crypto. This pile has been growing since the first advent of ALT Coins. Nothing to see here. Look away if it offends ye. 😎
I agree, many are not much good. The tribal tokens can add value, if they continue to develop and build a use case and reach outside of STEEM for growth. LEO and SPORTS are my favourites for this. (Premium content, subscription services, sports tipping contests, even a sports merch or memorabilia estore)
SPIN (@spinvest) is a great concept also, and asset backed which is better.

Well right now they have a value but the pace at which the more tokens are coming it will be a thing to think about
