I think the tokens have value, but there is a risk. When dumping them and selling the resulting STEEM, that hurts both that token and STEEM. The value comes from having specialized communities, with a distribution that is changed radically from Steem. It's easier for community members to have higher influence on curation, to see only content related to the niche if cleaning the feed works in the respective community, and to be rewarded accordingly. The price of the token may actually be different than its value. Some may be overpriced, others underpriced, at least for some time. And profit from speculation, if not reinvested in tokens, and withdrawn to STEEM and from there to fiat, that puts more pressure to the price of STEEM.
