Decency. That’s the word. That’s what a lot of people here are missing.
I get it that people care about the money. Who doesn’t. But I’m irked by this culture where it’s just okay to be an asshole with no decency. Especially the libertarian types champion this all the time: being an asshole is okay, and sometimes even celebrated, because it doesn’t infringe on someone else’s right to be an asshole.
What a way to build a wholesome and valuable culture.
Jusy because you can be an asshole, doesn’t mean you should be. Hell, it doesn’t even mean it’s okay.
There are plenty of people out there trying to build "a wholesome and valuable culture." Unfortunately, those people, and those groups, by and large go about with little to no support. Some, are lucky and have a little. But who can compare to the outpouring of support for the bidbots? Run a scam? Support will be plentiful. Try to build something where users can feel like they belong, and generate user retention? You'll be shown how valuable that is! By a big outpouring of nothing.
Giving you my upvote for nailing the essence of libertarianism - be the asshole you want to be, you owe the world nothing. I could go on, but I think I'm preaching to the choir.
Yeah, you pretty much verbalized my problem with the movement. And I consider myself a libertarian myself. Sorta. Kinda. Not sure anymore, really. But that's offtopic. I'm going to make a post about it, so follow me if you want to discuss it further in the near future.
Errybunny should be an intellectual lover, such as myself.
People will not build a wholesome and valuable culture, because they do not allow another to be above oneself. We are a very competitive generation, if we can be called anything but pitifully spiteful.
We are so often the ones to blame for our own downfalls because we are not loving and helpful.
Oh well. Such a shame, really.
As humans we are capable of so much more.
I'll take sides with your comment about Libertarians... I am one and don't feel that way. While I do support the mantra "to each their own," when it comes to negativities that affect others and unethical behavior, I will take a stand. And many of us Champions of that Doctrine of Free Will are in that same boat. To say that all Libertarians are like that is not nice. Then again, maybe you meant to say Liberals?
He's a scammer, opportunist, and whatever comes on the degenerate scale between liar and moron. There's pretty much no other excuse for the crap he puts out there. Otherwise, I fully believe that Jerry is a really nice fellow. He's probably be great to stand around with at one of those indoor kid parks where all the dads hang out and wait in the corner. As long as no words over one syllable were exchanged.
I am almost 1 year on steemit and in the beginning all was new for me but I knew that Jerry is not the right guy to follow because I knew his history with Dash community.
So he is misleading us and i was starting to love him to consider him as my mentor. WOW! People can be so funny.
Thanks for opening our eyes now everyone can see the truth it's just a matter of believing it or continue living a lie.
In the past this wouldn't happen. The large accounts would be all over it with flags galore. And where are they now? Behind the SP boosting these scams, looking the other way.
wow his post is too long
anyone got a tldr version?
I commented on his earlier post telling him hope he lives up to the hype he is building for his product coming out... but honestly now that I think about it remembered this is the same Jerry who said $10 steem was going to happen.... whenever someone says "the price will be $XX.XX" you should see it as a red flag...
Hopefully since he is invested heavily into steem whatever he does he brings value to steemit..
I don't know why but every time I see a really long post from him all I can feel from it is "I pray to go back to when I had my masternode"
his posts are always long (and horrid). this way he can load them continuously with buzzwords. he does this for two reasons. first, to get better hits on google. second, to leave the reader's mind numb and vulnerable to his bullshit.
If I write a post that is 10 pages long each time, will I get votes like Jerry? Does making a post that long make you sound smarter than other people? I am only asking because I need to have my post trending with the least amount of effort possible. Thanks for anyone's help.
No. All that'll happen is no one will read it. Unless you get it to Trending via bid bots, then they'll read a few sentences, tell you you've changed their life, ask for a vote back and move on.
Damn. I read more than a few sentences of that Jerry post. I forgot to ask for a vote back. I probably deserve 2 votes from Jerry if I read a full paragraph.
Will your 10-page post make a bunch of money? Probably not. If you want to have a chance, promise everybody $100 Steem or a daily return on their money of XX percent or something. You know, just lie and appeal to the basest instincts.
with all respect can i ask if that reputation you have its for some kind of battle? the big guys flagged you for say some trues or something like that?
Why do people have to resort to straight-up scam people?
I get it, to make money but, people should have more decency to do that kind of things, those people are scammers who should be in jail, if you try those things with IRL money you will be thrown to jail, it is plain and simple illegal.
This is a really, really, really, funny post. What little I read of it seemed like a complete meme, I don't really understand how people could take it seriously and $1000 on that shit? For real? Wtf?

I wasn't just talking about Steemit, I meant society in general, but yeah.
Steemit is a microcosm of society as a whole. The statements I made above can easily be extrapolated to global society :)
The very same bullshit happens there as well. I thought the libertarian dream was supposed to be so much better? /s

(How smooth.)
There's a fine line between smooth and slippery 8-).
I think there's a slope between them. No one ever talks about the smooth slope, only the sliperry one.
Too smooth ;)
I follow white rabbits so sure I'll follow you. Thanks for chiming in.
That's not the essence of libertarianism. That's the essence of keyboard warrior loser.
Hey, man. I’ve been meaning to sort of debate you on libertarianism for some time now. But I don’t want to take this post any further offtopic.
And I don’t mean debate in a hostile way. You know I like and respect you.
I just think there are certain nuances that mainstream libertarians aren’t getting.
And, like I said, I still uphold the principles myself.
I’ll make a post one day soon, look for it.
I'd love to man. I think I probably agree with many of your criticisms of "mainstream libertarianism." The respect is mutual. I'll keep my eyes out.
I'll look forward to it!
Thank you for making my point.

About a dozen witnesses came out to flag at least.
Yep, the 'active' stake of the top 20 is less than 1 bot, sigh...

Scheming to increase your take from the pool that doesnt include creating, or curating, original content is abuse, imo.

Much of the back and forth is for #truetrue.
