You can't ever please everybody, and it also shouldn't be the goal. Do what makes you feel good and what can potentially make many others feel good.
I don't think I ever received more comments on a post than on my last one. Reading through them put a huge smile on my face and it was the very best way for me to quit.
Saying goodbye can be a sign of respect towards the people (friends) who supported you, a polite way of finishing a fantastic journey and also a way of showing gratefulness for what one accomplished.
Now there will be always people criticizing you, no matter which way you choose. But that's nothing one should worry about, it's just how social media works :-)
But meeeh, you won't quit, so why even bother? haha
