A poisonous Russell's viper snake was caught in a homestead in Patuakhali's Kalapara.

The snake was recovered from Char Dhulasar village of Ward No. 1 of Dhulasar Union of Upazila on Thursday (September 19) afternoon.

The snake was rescued by Animal Lovers of Kalapara, an organization working with snakes and wildlife.

The organization says that many venomous and non-venomous snakes have been recovered before, but this is the first time that a poisonous Russell's viper has been found in Kalapara. So it will be sent to the research center without release as usual.

Rakait, team leader of Animal Lovers of Kalapara, said the snake was found wrapped in a net in front of the house. Currently, the snake will remain in the custody of the organization. Later it will be handed over to Chittagong Medical College Hospital Venom Research Center for research.
