Stewardship!!
Whenever you hear the word stewardship what's the first thing that comes to your mind?
Have you taken a look at how a manager of bank manages the bank and all the funds that comes in? How he checks the records of every account and staff making sure elno deficit is insured.
The manager reports to the chief executive director of the bank right ? The manger doesn't go home with the money that is paid into the bank or spend it on his personal expenses.
Even though he sees those money every day, he knows that this money doesn't belong to him.
Now this picture I just painted to you is typically how stewardship works.
A steward is one who manages another persons property which includes money and other things. Take note of the word "manage. This simply means he will definitely report back to who sent him just like that manager in the bank.
So you know you are a steward here on earth? Every thing you think you own and would ever have was given to you to manage so you will give account of how you manage it.
A steward has this consciousness he should use what was given well and properly. A steward doesn't waste resources, he manges it well.
No matter what you think you have achieved, you are a steward. Do you know one that when you are leave this earth, you will leave with nothing? That alone should tell you that you should use what you have well.
Characteristics of stewards
There are many characteristics of a steward but I will give you just 5
- A steward is loyal to the master
- A steward doesn't waste resources
- A steward doesn't hoard resources
- A steward doesn't use the word my hard earned money
- A steward is a servant
Stewardship is first a thing of the heart before actions. If you have this perception that you are a steward here on earth, then the way you live your life, relate with people and do things will surely change.
I have a question for you, Do you think you are a steward from all I have said?

Since creation isn't a familiar concept to me, I prefer a different image: everything we have at our disposal is merely borrowed. Our lives are finite, as you say: we take nothing with us to the grave. We use material things for our limited time on earth.
Inheritance is also a foreign concept to me. I inherit nothing, and I won't leave anything behind myself. My ambition to accumulate a fortune to bequeath to my descendants is nonexistent. What's important to me, however, is to handle what I have, what I earn, with care—no waste, no misuse, no excess baggage. Does that make me a custodian or steward?
I haven't personally seen it that way so far. But it's worth considering... ;-))
