Since creation isn't a familiar concept to me, I prefer a different image: everything we have at our disposal is merely borrowed. Our lives are finite, as you say: we take nothing with us to the grave. We use material things for our limited time on earth.
Inheritance is also a foreign concept to me. I inherit nothing, and I won't leave anything behind myself. My ambition to accumulate a fortune to bequeath to my descendants is nonexistent. What's important to me, however, is to handle what I have, what I earn, with care—no waste, no misuse, no excess baggage. Does that make me a custodian or steward?
I haven't personally seen it that way so far. But it's worth considering... ;-))
