Artificial non-intelligence

I've said it before here too that I don't like AI, I don't even like the concept of it, and I don't like it even less that it creates memes showing how it will treat people when it takes over the world, which it undoubtedly will. As I read recently, the human species, like every other animal species, is subject to extinction, and while that may seem absurd in today's overpopulated world, I think we only need one more global war or one more global pandemic for this plan to finally be implemented. Surely the "great" minds of the great psychopaths have already outlined this plan. The same ones who invented, created, pushed through and will subsequently impose AI as the status quo, as something that goes without saying.

I've already told you, maybe more than once, that no matter how many times I've asked AI for information on important issues (and that's not many times, maybe 3-4), it either refused to provide any information or provided a completely wrong one. Then I just go to Google, type in my question, and the answer immediately appears on the first sites that come up, even before AI was entered into Google as the first summarized answer at the top.
The last time it was a question about a value in the tax return, which question "inspired" it to go wild in inventing non-existent rows, tables, and appendices in the tax return, which shocked me as a situation. And when my first reaction was to write that what it said was not true and these things did not exist and it told me: You are absolutely right, I gave up using it again.

Why would I do that? I have no intention of "teaching" it. The very concept of that seems wrong to me. I turn to it for information, not because I want to research and find this information together so that in the end it will be ready with an answer for the next person who turns to it for information on the subject. While, of course, during that time it has been getting on my nerves.
If it doesn't have the information needed right now, why should it be called "intelligence" at all? I have no intention of educating anyone or anything that is presumed to be more intelligent than I am. And when something that isn't actually intelligence, whether it's natural or artificial non-intelligence, ends up in the hands of people who also lack crucial human traits and abilities like empathy, compassion, and kindness, things are going to get particularly scary and doomed.

Why am I writing all this again? It is triggered by a simple everyday incident. One that will happen more and more often in our lives, that's clear. Not only because my phone number, for example, is on some list leaked by some institution and I regularly get calls from robots who pretend to be people with normal Bulgarian names and offer scams. Does this thing already exist in your countries too?
However, a few weeks ago, something even more brutal happened. I had to talk to an artificial non-intelligence when reporting an electricity outage in order to have a team dispatched to fix the problem. And although I don't have time for nonsense in general, it wouldn't be a problem to "talk" to this "thing" if I didn't actually have to pay for this "pleasure". Or rather, non-pleasure.
Oh yes, in Bulgaria there is no longer an institution, establishment, bank or service company, electrical company, water supply company, telephone operators, etc., whose contact numbers are not pulse phones and for a fee. Even when you want to get a report, an alert, or as in this case, a signal for a lack of electricity, it is not free.

Some would say that this is done to provide salaries for the staff working on the phone line, although in the past these were people in outsourced call centers, not people working directly for these companies, and their costs for these people were not that high, especially considering the level of salaries in the country.

But now it is something else. Because, you know, no one pays a robot a salary.

I don't know how these things are programmed, and I don't want to know either, also the things used in Bulgaria are supposed to be the cheapest and lowest quality devices possible, and this thing just asked questions that had to be answered with yes or no. But it was a soooo long conversation, I assure you. If I had talked to a person, it would have taken a lot less time. Because with every question the robot asked, it was: Say your answer after the signal. And you wait for the signal, then you say your answer, then you wait for this "thing" to speak again and ask the next question, and so on. And again, if I didn't know the counter was spinning at that time, this wouldn't be such a problem. First you have to listen to the entire menu spin, deliberately drawn out for a long time, and then this is served.

This non-pleasure cost me 1.18 euros excluding VAT, so 1.42 euros final price. And if you think that's not a big enough amount for me to complain about, think again. Because in the end, I got nothing in return for it. I got a power outage and the robot said it would send a team to fix the problem, which had affected the entire village. Don't think I was the only one affected. But I was the only one who called this phone for alerts because it was paid.

An hour after I reported it, exactly an hour later, I received a call from a hidden number from which some simple-minded but trying to be polite man (oh, how rarely this happens nowadays here!) told me that a team would not actually come because he and his people were cutting tree branches along the sidewalks on the main street and that's why they had to turn off the power.
Yes, it was their fault that they didn't leave a message about this anywhere, especially on the electricity company's website, where, at least, one can find out for free about planned preventive maintenance and repair activities, i.e. planned power outages in populated areas.
(Do you have power outages that often in the countries you live in too? I doubt it.)

And because of that, almost out of guilt, this man would promise to turn on the power for me not in two hours, as planned, but in just an hour and a half. 😂(And I was at work during that time, you can imagine.)

So in Bulgaria it always ends up that people have to pay for services that are never performed, for incompetent work, or for the lack of any at all. And how does artificial non-intelligence improve the situation? Not at all. It fits into it even better.

Annoying... We have both paid and free hotlines. But nobody really cares, because practically everyone has a flat rate and can make unlimited calls without any worries. Well, except for special numbers that aren't included in the flat rate. And those are set up exactly as you described: they keep you on the line as long as possible. I've been trying to handle everything in writing for a long time now, whenever possible.

I'm sure writing an email to report a power outage would be even more ineffective than the situation described above. 😃
In Bulgaria, there is even a foundation that has developed an application in which they have collected all the alternatives to these paid numbers that could be found. This includes banks, couriers, insurance companies, even credit companies, which are so many in Bulgaria because people are poor. And these poor people have to pay to contact these companies. Mobile operators have long since made their lines paid as well, because they are fraudsters by default and many people call them because of the constant mess and fraud they commit with their contracts. Last year I had to call an insurance company, I needed information very urgently because of documents I needed for a medical examination. They transferred me from department to department without giving me the information I actually needed and I had to pay for it again...
I don't know why, but I associate these paid numbers only with fraud, and in Bulgaria they are already almost everywhere and of every single establishment and institution. Simply because the state is not working, it is absent and has been replaced by some fraudsters. Even for reporting scams related to the introduction of the euro to the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) and the National Revenue Agency (NRA), this can only be done to such a paid phone 🤷‍♀️ So you can imagine that even though there are hundreds of thousands of cases, no one reports such signals. And that's what the point is in this case, for example.
